The Stedman Proscreen XL is a professional advanced pop filter for vocal applications. The Proscreen XL is made from our exclusive patented material that eliminates pops far more effectively than fabric filters. The Proscreen XL allows unobstructed passage of high frequencies helping to maintain the important detail in vocal recordings. In addition to its sonic advantages, the Proscreen XL can be easily washed between sessions. With the Proscreen XL in place, average recording signal levels can be maximized without the risk of clipping caused by bursts (extremely important with digital formats). The Proscreen XL has a large 6 diameter screen with rubber bezel and includes a 13 flexible gooseneck with an extended adjustable clamp to allow easy adjustment and placement.

The angle of the large louvered openings in the Proscreen XL material allows sound to pass while diverting air bursts from vocal pops in a downward direction out of the back of the screen. Even extremely dynamic close vocal work will not allow bursts to reach the microphone. For the best results the Proscreen XL should be placed between the vocalist and the microphone with at least 2 inches between the screen and the microphone. The vocalist must be on the Stedman label side of the Proscreen XL to be effective. To clean, immerse the entire screen material into a mild solution of detergent and rinse with warm water. Wipe off excess water with a towel and allow to air dry before the next use. An antibacterial detergent may be used to increase effectiveness of cleaning.

After the unboxing, I was pleasantly surprised at the heft of this pop filter. The clamp and goose-neck look solid and well constructed. The filter itself looks a bit delicate and I would advise avoid touching that part as much as possible. If you must adjust it, adjust it by the goose-neck.
Now for the audio test. The instructions that come with it, advise keeping the filter at least 2 inches away from the microphone. That gives it enough space to dissipate the air going through it before it gets to the mic. At 6 inches from the mic, there is very few plosives. At two inches from the mic (right up to the pop filter) there is a bit more. But nowhere as much as if you were using a nylon filter or no filter at all.
I also notice that their is very little coloration of the sound as much as with other types of filters and wind-socks.
Is it perfect? No. There's no such thing as the perfect pop-filter. But it is certainly very good.
I highly recommend it.

Killer Pop Screen. Kills Pops, and other Sibilances, (P’s, T’s, F’s and S’s) , without colouring , darkening, or muffling the sound like some can. Also these 100% do what they say, and direct air blasts downwards, it’s pretty crazy. Also that other reviewer who’s on about adjustment, let me just say it works totally fine and I’ve had no problems. If anything its super sturdy, high quality, and as easy to position as any other pop filter in this style. Am definitely using this for life and will buy more! Love using it in front of sensitive and expensive mods to when I’m using loud kick drums and amps!

This Stedman Pop filter do the job and reduces Pops and lets you see through, but adjusting the clamp on my Rode Boom mic arm is very difficult. I need to add pieces to make it more 'stable' (it doesn't stay into place easily). And the head of the filter is not flexible. Terrible design that way. It should swivel at different places. If makers pay attention to reviews, hope they will think of its redesign. 4 to 5 stars for purpose. 1 star for clamp and head.
