Having used it for two years, the Roli Seaboard has proven to be the unique and versatile controller it is advertised to be. There's nothing like this in terms of the independent real time control for individual notes and all the degrees of control available via 5D enabled applications.
The major advantage is for ambient, soundtrack and effects - along with the naturally intuitive use for soloing with vibrato and filter control. So it's great for those quick responsive styles of playing but can go much deeper as you are willing to take it for whatever types of expressiveness you might want to engage - where it becomes an almost meditative creative experience.
Everyone should spend some time with these unique offerings, it's like an enriched course in musical expression - things you never knew you were able to express are that much more possible with this and other Roli interfaces and supporting applications - very much worth the time and consideration.

just over a year and a half very light studio use usb port defective now no warranty$120.00 just to send it for repair plus actual repair cost great concept poor execution

I also use the Roli for film and tv and unusual project work. I use it mainly with Logic but also with the iPad apps. The expressiveness you get from this thing with the Equator synth is awesome. I'm getting used to the feel of it. There are lots of YouTube vids to watch and learn from. Downsides? 2 octaves is short. It sits nicely on the lap but another octave would be great. Wireless is flakey on iPad for Roli apps but regular apps stay connected. Online manual could use a rewrite. Tech support is fantastic as you will have questions not covered in the manual. The most important thing? It is a ton of FUN! Very inspirational!

I been using it for building tracks in Logic, mainly scoring for short film and animations. So fast for building layers and atmospheres. Different tecnique to keyboard but I picked it up fast and you can use a much lighter touch as so responsive. Impressed so far and the Equator software it comes with is much more impressive than I though it would be, very usable and adds different textures to other plugs I already own.
