Portastand's flagship Troubadour music stand supports your performance with a robust design and great looks. Its black powder-coated steel desk effortlessly holds orchestral scores, laptops, tablets, and auxiliary equipment. Its exclusive custom tripod goes low enough for the seated classical guitarist and high enough for the standing string player. The patented, tailor-fit 1000D Cordura Nylon cover is weatherproof, tour-proof, and student-proof. Take away the all-metal tripod and it doubles as a tabletop stand. And of course, like any Portastand product, it folds up like it's auditioning for Cirque du Soleil. So take a load off - the Portastand Troubadour is the third bicep you always wanted.

I really wanted to like this stand. I have this exact burgundy one. I wanted something I could easily carry around on my shoulder while on the busy. I love the colour and the protective fabric and optional pouch use. However, two features are dealbreakers: 1) The lip of the stand is not covered, meaning it juts out at you if you're carrying it against you. If you hold it the other way around, then the post attachment is rubbing against you. If you have plain rugged clothing, it's okay, but if you're in concert dress, that's a no-no. The lip will also get chipped because it is exposed. 2) The fitting that help lock the posts' height has failed with not a lot of use. So, there is one part of the post that isn't that stable anymore when I try to lock it in. The desk is really heavy so due to this, the desk can sometimes collapse down that weak post. As for features, I have used the pocket, which is nice. The tripod can be hung on the loops of the desk, but it's hard to put it in and I generally don't find it that stable, so the tripod I usually put in my backpack. The wind resistor is a good feature, if I didn't lose it (i.e., there should be a pocket to store it). The shoulder strap is good and I leave it hanging when in use. So, if the build quality was better and there was something done about the lip (I think the fabric should wrap around it and be able to be folded in), this would be a nice stand. I think if the desk were plastic or aluminum, it would really be lightweight, but as-is, it's still very heavy to carry on the shoulders.
