I ended up buying this head and it is amazing. The versatility of this thing! I'm still working on nailing the gain sound mixed with the 2nd EQ. I never thought I needed more than 2 channels but having clean, crunch and high gain at the tap of a footswitch has made me very happy. The only thing I'm being psychosomatic about is the clean. It is amazing but I tend to drive myself crazy thinking it doesn't have the real vintage wamrth I like but I think it's there.... I think. On a negative note, when I switch to the 3rd channel where I have my high gain, it pops. But after the first pop, it doesn't do it again. This happens every time I turn it on. Also, like with the mini rectifier I ordered before it didn't come with the cord to connect the footswitch to the head, so make sure they double check it's there before shipping it to you.

There was actually one in the store to try this summer and I loved it. The guy at L&M didn't hesitate to set it up for me and make sure I got an in depth instruction of it. I was hesitant between this and the Orange MKiii because I love Orange's clean on the rockerverbs and the simplicity of the knobs but after trying the JP-2C, I love it. It's a beast, built like a tank and the cleans do not disappoint. So, I will be getting one in the near future.

Yes, it's an expensive amp, but it's seriously worth the money. Quality-wise, there is pretty much nothing better out there. Even if you're not a fan of John Petrucci and/or Dream Theater, he simply knows his stuff and it's reflected in this amp. I had a hard time dialing in a good tone with the Mark V, but with this baby I had a great sound within minutes when playing it first. Coming from an Engl, I like high gain sounds with lots of sustain and the flexibility of the JP-2C is simply fantastic. I've never had an amp with a 5-band EQL in the poweramp section before and the impact it has on sound is extreme. The classic V-scoop gives you a perfect metal lead tone and this model even has another one, so you can switch to a different tone for let's say solo. What I also love about it is the midi capability, which makes it so easy to store presets with a connected foot controller and an effects processor (using G-Major and a Behringer FCB foot controller). Sound-wise it takes a little time to find the perfect tone, but then even different guitars all sound fantastic through it. Three channels is all you need, the reverb is a nice add-on, although I find it to be too intense when you turn it up past the minimum setting. The shred options are great, although with the added gain you have to be even more careful to dial it in right in order not to make it sound too mushy. Love it: - Sound - Flexibility - Build quality - Midi switching capability Leave it: - Price - Sensitive reverb
