As recommended by a representative at the London South store, I put this Humidipak product to use with my Taylor acoustic guitar. Also, a D'Addario Planet Waves PW-HTS hygrometer is in the case to monitor the temperature and humidity. The Humidipak does automatically maintain the humidity. Each time I open the guitar case, the hygrometer is reading between 45% to 50%. No water, no mess. So easy to use!

These humidipaks saved my Martin for 2 years but now my frets have popped, being very sharp. I think maybe I just didn't change the humidipaks soon enough?... But I have done it the same for the past few years because I don't change them out until every bit of softness is gone from the pack. Now after 2 years the frets have popped, I could tell it was happening last year but barely and it caused no problems. From the other review saying that he also lives in Labrador and that using the humidipak set his frets back to normal, I think i'll change them one more time and see if the same happens with mine. If no, gotta do some filing :(

Like all of us who live in Canada the winter months, running the heat, just suck the moisture out of the air in my house. After buying a higher end Taylor I decided to invest in the humidipak. After all if you spend 3K+ on an instrument, then it's worth some money invested to protect it. I couldn't be happier with the humidipak. I Keep a hygrometer in the case and every time I open it up it is consistently 43% humidity, no matter what the level is in the room I am in. I keep a hygrometer on the wall in my house and during the winter it sits around 35% so to see 43% in the case is a good thing.

I purchased a very expensive Taylor guitar and as I have lived in Labrador for nearly 40 years, I knew that the lack of humidity in the winter months was going to be a real problem. I had tried other methods of humidification on a Martin that I own for over twenty years with varying amounts of success. Within months of returning home with my Taylor and faithfully using other methods to keep it from drying out, I began to notice that the fretboard and neck were shrinking and the frets were sticking out. I ordered the Humidipak and within weeks, the neck was back to normal. I could feel and hear the difference. The only drawback, if you could call it that, is that due to the severe lack of humidity in the north in winter time, the packets don't last very long (about 6 weeks on average). But if you have paid big bucks for your toy, it is worth every cent.
