Fashioned for player comfort, clear powerful tone and easy action, the Dreadnought Junior is reduced to approximately 15/16 of the full Martin 14-fret Dreadnought dimension (14 1/4 width at the lower bout) with an expressive 24 scale length. A solid Spruce top features scalloped 1/4 high performance X-bracing with a double asymmetrical tone bar. The back and sides are bookmatched from sapele, and Richlite, an ebony alternative with similar hardness and appearance, is chosen for the fingerboard and bridge. The Dreadnought Junior (aka D Jr) comes factory-equipped with Fishmans Sonitone sound reinforcement system and includes a nylon gig bag.

Had this for a month or so absolutely love, no complaints at all, though a hard case would be nice. Had one couple years ago, did not keep it long, when I got it home didn't sound near as good as in store. This one is much better and the look of the burst is gorgeous. Had a die hard Martin fan play this and he was shocked by the sound this little beauty produces. A keeper for sure!!!

The sound from this guitar belies it's size. I've owned the Taylor equivalent and this guitar has much more even tone in my opinion. Easy to play and solid wood (no laminates). Guitars are a very personal choice but I would highly recommend you try this if you are looking for an excellent "smaller" bodied guitar.

i've had one for a couple of months. I own a couple of Taylor guitars, and love them. I think the GS Mini is a great guitar. But as far as comfort, and ease of playing, the dreadnought jr. is better. And it really has some punch for it's size. A good finger picker as well. At the time i purchased it, they had 2 in stock. I tried both of them, and 1 had a definite better overall sound. so i recommend you do that if they have more then 1 in store. You will find it hard to put down. wish it came with a hardshell case....

Fantastic tone and easy to play! Add the fishman electronics and it's not just a travel guitar. You can play gigs and record with it. This guitar has a great unique mid range tone and still has some low end boom. The 3/4 size gives it a different range than most acoustics. The size of the body is like an electric guitar. Feels good and easy to play for a player used to the size of an electric. BUT They shouldve finished the neck better. It feels porous which may work out the more you play it but still, a bit more sanding and finish coat wouldve been better. Also the allen key it comes with is too short and useless. I had to use my d28 wrench. The fretboard felt a bit concave for my taste. Also for a mexican guitar it should be less money. Maybe 650. However; all that being said...amazing guitar. It is not a toy. It is not a travel guitar. It is a compact dreadnought. Martin shoulf consider selling a feedback buster soundhole plug that fits this bad boy.

I replaced my baby Taylor with this. Richer sound especially in midtones. Which I would expect due to its larger size. I'm hoping I don't have problems with the bridge cracking my top which seems to plague the baby. IF it doesn't I'll go to a 5 on quality but I've only owned it 3 months so the jury is still out. The bracing seems more substantial than Taylors so I'm hopeful.

Have only had this for a week but it's a great instrument with that Martin tone! I love the fact that it is made of solid wood. I think like all Martin products it is over priced, especially given the status of our Canadian dollar. Still I love this so far!

this is a great guitar. The only thing I would change is to get a hard case for it. It comes with a soft gig bag and you would want the hard case. I reviewed this earlier, but forgot to put the 5 star review. I would have given it 5 out of 5, but the gig bag needs improvement.

I forgot to give the Dreadnought 5 stars. The only problem is that the travel bag is not the best. I was wondering if Long and Mcquade will be bringing in the Martin Hardshell case for it.

This is a great little guitar. I own a Taylor GS Mini Koa and the sound that comes from the Martin is a warmer tone. The GS mini is layered The fret board is better spaced and feels great playing. The guitar is really new and I know that it will only get better with age.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
