The World's Number One Audio Interface
Scarlett 2i2 is the best-selling USB audio interface in the world, and for good reason. It focuses on just three things: achieving the best sound, the fastest speed and the easiest experience. The latest generation continues to improve in all three areas. It is compact yet versatile, with two natural-sounding Scarlett mic preamps, super-low latency and the same class-leading sound quality and digital conversion as the rest of the latest Scarlett range. Take it anywhere, connect by a single USB cable, plug two mics or instruments straight in, and easily record studio quality audio. Focusrite is the perfect partner for Pro Tools. To celebrate this Scarlett 2i2 now comes with an exclusive version of Pro Tools | First Focusrite Creative Pack, as well as Ableton Live Lite. It is compatible with all major DAWs, on Mac and PC.

Sound Just Like You
With Scarlett 2i2 your recordings will sound just how you want them. Two combination inputs with natural-sounding Scarlett mic preamps, line level inputs and newly-designed instrument inputs let you record anything you want. Even seriously hot guitar pick-ups. Two 1/4 inch balanced jack outputs let you connect to professional studio monitors, turn up the volume and totally immerse yourself in sound.

New Generation - Better In Every Way
The second generation Scarlett range is packed full of upgrades. New super-low latency will bring confidence to your performance, letting you record and monitor with software effects in real time. New metal gain controls and a sleeker red metal chassis underscore its improved industrial design, built to go anywhere. The Scarlett range also now operates at sample rates all the way up to 192kHz, and the input channels have evolved too. The latest Scarlett mic preamp features a more even gain structure, so you can accurately set your levels, and the instrument input has also been completely redesigned so it can handle seriously hot guitar pick-ups. Finally, Focusrite have provided analogue protection circuitry across both the inputs and the outputs, to guard your interface against unwanted power surges.

Ready to Record Anywhere
Compact and portable enough to take anywhere, you won't even need a power supply; Scarlett 2i2 is connected and powered by a single USB cable. It also comes with the software and effects you need to start recording; an exclusive version of Pro Tools | First Focusrite Creative Pack (featuring 12 additional plug-ins including the Eleven Lite for real life guitar amp emulations), Ableton Live Lite, the Softube Time and Tone Bundle, Focusrite's Red Plug-In Suite, 2GB of Loopmasters samples and more.

For the modern day musician or producer, there are now a vast amount of innovative software companies, creating a wealth of powerful plug-ins. With such variety, you'll want to find exactly the right plug-ins for you, and use them in real time, thanks to Scarlett 2nd MKII's super-low latency environment. To help you on this mission, Focusrite created the 'Plug-in Collective', working with the very best to bring you exclusive plug-in offers and content every month.

I am also starting out with recording music at home. This is a good balance of inputs and easy to use and features. I started using Audacity and moved on to using Reaper. The controls for the preamp gain and the color feedback for when it is clipping on the device is really convenient. I enjoy the slick dual mode TRS and XLR connectors. This allows me to connect to instruments, line out, or the balanced connection to DI box or my amp (that has a balanced out). I also use a microphone plugged into it. The phantom power is good to drive the condenser mic. More recently I also got a separate ART tube mp/c preamp, because i wanted hardware compressor for the mic, and more gain. But it is like plug and play lego bricks to chain these together with the XLR connectors. I now prefer to have this connected to my computer as a USB audio interface all the time (even when I am not recording). The audio output is just better quality then the built-in sound card on the motherboard, less jitter under system load. The hardware monitor switch is super convenient, able to have the what is going from the input to show up on the monitor (output) without needing software. i have never had a good experience with software play through monitoring. There is always something funny with the latency of it that or needing to click buttons on the screen to manipulate it. Here, just flick a switch. And I like the 1/4 headphone jack with the separate volume from the monitor volume. There is now a 3rd gen of this available, and has USB C connector. I mean, the one I have works very well for me so I don't need to upgrade, but if it ever wears out I plan to replace it with the current generation of this thing again.

I've used this (v1) almost daily for the last 5+ years. Not one problem, works perfect every time. Sounds great, plug 'n' play. Couldn't be better.

Easiest & quickest setup I've ever been through with an audio interface. I did a quick vocal test with my mic and was blown away by the quality of the pres compared to my much older interface. Loving it so far. I definitely recommend.

I record a lot of acoustic and electric guitars. This interface has amazing preamps that let you get a big sound when you mic acoustics or guitar cabs. But what really surprised me is that even when you plug an electric guitar directly into the interface you get a studio quality sound. I run my telecaster through my pedalboard directly into the interface for simple recording and great sound quality. Great product

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, woodwind pads, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year. Pricing for used electronic products is 4% of the original new selling price.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: $40 flat rate up to $2,000 of current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years.
  • BRASS and STRINGS: 2% of the current new selling price above $2,000.
  • WOODWINDS: 4% of the current new selling price above $2,000.
