Dead after a year of light use

Mine has died after only about a year of light use. I always keep it in my case so it doesn't get kicked around the house or abused in any way. Still looks in good shape but the electronics are dead.

It’s totally off. I have a Martin Omjm and silver sky. Other guitars too. Doesn’t tune well. It’s always off. Waste of miney

So I went and pulled this out of my gig bag the other day and noticed the tuner was tacky to the touch and that my fingers had been tinted red. For some reason the finish has begun to just peel off and get all anything it touches. No cleaning products or anything were used on this so no idea why this is happening. I tried to clean it off but I don't think I want this thing anywhere near any instruments for them to get that red finish all everything. I will also agree that this thing uses batteries even when not in use.

I purchased the SN-2 version of this tuner a number of years ago and recently when I went to use it, found that my unit had suffered the legendary breakage at the back of the unit where the pivot ball attaches to the screen. I tried to see whether I could fix it, but frankly, the way the small bracket has sheared off, it wasn't feasible.
I was very surprised to see a small but significant improvement on design where the bracket on the back of the main unit is now re-inforced with a rubber gasket running around the outside of the "teeth" that hold the ball in place.
Only time will tell whether this improved design will lend itself to improved longevity.
From a practical function perspective, you simply can't beat this -- and although it's a bit cludgy looking hanging off my guitar head, but then it only stays on long enough to get in-tune then gets removed. I am not a stage performer just an at-home hacker.
It's easy-peasy to use, has some nice extras like the mic or vibration tuning mode and the tempo metronome if you are into that kind of stuff.

I got one of these because I have seen most people on vids with them and I got tired of pulling out my phone or I pad for tuning. It is so handy I keep a few around the house one on each floor! It is super tight with tuning all in the name has BPM counter I just use it strictly for tuning I have a few guitars and having one handy at all times makes life easy and so less bulky I can’t believe I went so long without one of these!

Don’t expect much for any of these Snark clip ons. I have 5. Works ok when the room is dead quite and the battery is brand new- most gigs/rehearsals that doesn’t occur. Eats batteries like the Cookie Monster. Most time the low E won’t even register. More often than not I’m cursing at these as I’ve no time for messing around during performance. 1st guitar beginners maybe ok for, anyone else serious about playing I’d pass.

I have two of these and neither are “super tight”. I find it very difficult to get an accurate read on low strings especially on my basses.

These are the best of all the clip on tuners I have tried. I have a couple of these now. Easy to use, easy to see and tracks excellent in most situations. I wouldn't trust it on a really loud stage as that is a job for a pedal or rack style tuner in my view...but for modest stage volumes or home/practice use this is a great tuner.

It worked great, and was a good tuner until it fell 18 inches. The head snapped off the base, and the electronics were shot.
Nice tuner, but flimsy.

I had this tuner for 4 years and it has not broke down.
The battery usually lasts pretty long too.

I've tried several different clip-on tuners, even some costing twice as much as this (looking at you, Korg), and none of them can compare with the Snark. This tuner is incredibly responsive, amazingly accurate, and the display is very clear and easy to read. You'll never need another tuner again.
