The Epiphone Allen Woody Limited Edition Bass is easy to get around on. Woody, who passed away in August 2000, was an avid collector of vintage Epiphone basses and this signature model combines the features that Woody found best for playing in his aggressive, rumbling style. It has a semi-hollow, single-cutaway, archtop body similar to that of Epiphone's Kat series but without f-holes. The neck is a 30" short scale for easier play. Mini-humbucking pickups in the neck and middle position deliver a warm tone. Wine red finish with gold hardware.

FEATURES:
Semi-hollow, single-cutaway, archtop body without f-holes.
30" short-scale neck.
Mini-humbucking pickups in the neck and middle positions.
Gold hardware.

I've Had this unit for about a year. Compared to the Gibson SG short scale bass. Sonically it is extremely difficult to distinguish the difference. It is a lot lighter than the SG and certainly less expensive. My regular price was about half price of the SG. I'm not sure why a hard shell case is a separate purchase for the Bass. For my type of playing the short scale bass is the way to go! While the 3 point adjustable bride is uncommon it performs all the necessary adjustments that are need from a bridge.

This is a really well-made instrument with buckets of character and stunning looks. It is not capable of a huge range of sounds, but it is perfect for 60s Stones/Beatles style stuff and blues/jazz/roots. I restrung it with heavy LaBella flats and it gives a fabulous 'clicky-thump' when played with a pick and some palm-muting. Smooth buttery sound when played fingerstyle. The fit and finish is excellent. I was able to dial in a real low action with no dead spots. With the short scale and thin profile neck, it plays near as fast as a guitar. Real comfy.
