I've used 58s for years, and still do. I had an L&M gift cert that needed exercising so I bought this mic, based on other reviews, and wow! The clarity and natural sound is amazing. It actually made singing easier and more enjoyable since do not have to push so hard to cut through the mix. Even better: There's no colouring of the sound: You actually sound like you. Also, the feedback rejection is excellent. Spend a little extra and get this mic. You will not be disappointed.

Okay, quick disclaimer. I didn't pay for this thing. Have made one review so far - Keylab Essential 61 - where I went into arguably too much detail, it's a little bloated. So, to keep this section short: High School. I do have modest income (supportive parents) but no job, 'cuz right when I started actively getting interested in music hardware as a whole (synths & vocoding), the pandemic rolled around. That won't affect my final opinion, but my experience with microphones is likely pretty different from most commenters; it's my first high quality mic. Before it, I used a $40 USB Fifine (Amazon's Choice). It wasn't great, and I made a pretty poor decision in hindsight, but oh well. Onto the review. I asked for a dynamic mic because I live in an untreated home, and, even if I could afford to soundproof my "studio", don't really have space. I'll probably buy a pop filter at some point, but the Dynamic aspect works great. I can record with a fairly loud conversation behind me, and the end result is still super clean. As far as the sound is concerned, I don't have a bunch to say. It sounds great. As far as singing is concerned, I usually vocode (processed through a Roland VT-4 & occasionally a Boss CE-5 as well) simply because I prefer the sound, but it's quite versatile. I use the e935 for everything. Acoustic Guitar as well, actually. I'm not much of a guitarist (teaching myself), but for a microphone intended for vocals, I'd say it does a pretty good job with recording instruments, particularly if you're in a pinch or only have a single microphone (like me). The build quality is fantastic, and the only thing this needs is a stand or boom arm, whichever you're into. Personally, I have it set up on a small tripod for convenience, but you do you. If you're looking for a nice, reasonably priced dynamic microphone, this is definitely a good option.

The Sennheiser E935 is a vocal mic, but I am absolutely blown away by how great it sounds on a 4X12 Cabinet! This microphone at the discounted price of $130 easily rivals microphones in the $400 to $500 range. I used to use a Shure 57 on cabinets but the Sennheiser E935 easily blows the Shure 57away in every aspect. I own 3 Sennhiesers. E835, E865 and the E935. The Sennheiser E935 is a beast of a microphone.

I don't know why vocalists are still talking about SM58 like it's still the benchmark. It was a good old faithful but its time has passed. The E935 requires less vocal effort, provides better clarity, will elevate your vocal performance to the level it deserves. Stop hanging on to old gear that doesn't cut it any more. Do your self a favour. Treat yourself. I did, and I'm so happy.

A notch above the shure sm58 in every way. Well worth the extra cost. Great customer service at the Mississauga L&M shop.

Purchased one and did a side-by-side comparison with an SM58. E935 sounded clearer/cleaner. Included mic clip nothing to write home about but overall pleased with this mic.

All I Can Say Is Wow! After a year with an SM57 for producing Youtube videos and Instructional Online Courses, I stumbled upon a review of the e935 and had this gut feel that this "vocalist's" mic would be perfect for my uses. And I've got to tell you it is spectacular! I had the SM57 connected to my audio interface through a cloudlifter to boost the gain and with a foam windscreen over top, and it did a great job (sounded warm and clean) but I always felt it wasn't really catching the full detail of my voice. So, I bought this e935, also connected it to the cloud lifter (Fethead, actually) and put the same windscreen over the grill and and Oh My! This thing sounds nothing short of amazing. It captures the all the nuance of my low tones without over extending them but then grabs all of the mid tones without over extending them either. The end result is a beautifully captured audio track with a natural sounding reproduction of my voice wrapped in a cover of audio warmth. I'm really REALLY Happy with this mic. It now sits on my desk permanently attached to my interface and Fethed and I use it for everything computer audio related: Zoom Calls, Skype Calls, Camtasia Screen recording, etc. Before purchasing it I demoed it and the e945 in-store as I was concerned about the potential sibilance that they might produce as I had seen some YouTube reviews pointing out they were prone to it. I also brought my 57, windscreen and Fethead so I could really compare as close as possible to my environment at home. I first tried the e945 which by all accounts is a better microphone but to my ear with my voice, it produced the greatest sibilance. The Foam filter tamed it but it was still there. Then the e935: Without the filter it was somewhat sibilant, but markedly less than the 945, but with the filter it was gone completely. Me and the sales associate just looked at each other and knew this was the mic. Then I plugged in my trusty 57 and although I have loved this mic, in comparison to the e935 it just sounded flat and dull. Had I never heard the 935, id probably still be happy with the 57 but when put back to back there's just no comparison. The e935 just shines! SOLD. I brought the thing home plugged it in to my interface and tried it both with and and with out the "Foam Ball" and there was no problem with sibilance either way: Conclusion - the interface and the PA system make a difference. On my set up the sibilance I found in the shop on their PA was non-existent when I used it with my own gear. The foam does warm the sound slightly and that's a good thing and it was only $4. The other bonus is that the e935 is a far more sensitive mic. It's still dynamic and the feedback & side rejection are incredible, making it perfect for an untreated room (like my office) but because it's more sensitive I could lower the gain on my interface 3 notches (from 6.5 out of 10 to 4.5 out of 10) and still have a cleaner louder signal than with the SM57. Keep in mind, these gain settings are with a Cloud lifter or Fethead. Without the inline signal boost I needed 9 out of 10 with the SM57 vs 7 out of 10 with the 935. This mic is a winner on all fronts. For vocalists it's renowned but it's also just fantastic for those of us who simply record spoken word. GET IT - You wont be sorry!

Really needed an upgrade from my Samson q7 (which is a good mic for the price) read a lot of reviews and the sennheiser e935 kept popping up with great reviews. I purchased this mic and Wow! The difference in sound quality is amazing. Love this mic! A great addition for anyone and at the price point nothing beats it! Highly recommend it to anyone.

I had the $40 Apex mic I bought when I got my PA System. It has done a great job for a cheap mic. I just felt it was time to move up. Did a lot of research on mics and this one consistently came up has being as good as, maybe better than a Shure Beta 58. I plugged it into my system with no change to EQ and probably got a 20% boost in vocals.. hard to say as there isn't a standard to measure gain and clarity. It was very noticeably cleaner and stronger as you would expect. The unexpected result is that my TC Helicon Play (acoustic) is doing much more accurate and pronounced harmonies now. I guess the stronger clearer signal allows this device to process better. Not only do I sound better, so does my fake backup vocalist. Bonus

I have been hunting for a mic accentuated my natural tone for ages. I started with a beta58a and then moved to a Rode Nt2. Each had some highs and lows - but the package really came together when I got the E935. As a performer, the mic is the least 'feedbacky' I have ever used. Even accidental low passes by the monitor rarely set it off. Despite low feedback, it has really nice and high output - solid - without being too hot. You can push the studio PA further than you'd expect before this mic causes any problems. Round out that it seems to handle all frequencies really nicely - my whole vocal range is equally represented by this mic, and you've got yourself a total winner - super highly recommended!

I have used several other mics and this is my fave. I used a SM58 for years and then stumbled upon an e835 and loved the sound improvement. So after a couple of years I upgraded to the 935 and it was a nice step up. I would not go back to other mics after this one.

After using SM58s for years, a buddy of mine browbeat me into trying this mic. I'm a part time sound man, and had the usual stable of Shure mics. After I tried the e935 I bought 2 more, plus a wireless 835 that I changed the capsule on to a 935. This mic is great for vocals, has pretty low handling noise, really good feed back rejection, and helps especially on those chocolaty voices that are hard to get up in the mix. Great presence! It also seems to have a little less proximity effect that an sm58, so not quite so much overwhelming bass when the vocalist is right on the mic. I found several vocalists I work with quickly adapted their mic technique to the mic's sensitivity, and they commented their monitor mix seemed more present and they could hear themselves better. Finally, one vocalist found that cupping the mic produced a very cool no bass vintage or distorted vocal that works well with a couple of newer songs. BONUS says I. You will not regret this purchase, a great tool in your microphone tool box.

Performance Warranty Banner
