I was on a budget when searching for a Mandolin..I tried 3 others much more expensive brands but found the Epiphone MM30 actually sounded Bright and well rounded and balanced..the trim level on this isn't super fancy but the build quality is amazing and clean..I also own a Epiphone B200 banjo with the same "best bang for the buck quality" good job Epiphone! and L&M

I bought one of the used rentals at a crazy good price. This mandolin is fun to play and sounds really great. Fit and finish is very good, much better than I'd expect at 200 bucks. Instrument has a really nice vintage finish and look.

My girlfriend bought this for me as a surprise a couple weeks ago after I'd mentioned my intention to explore mandolin and this model in particular... yes, she's a keeper! I've been playing guitar for 25 years, have a good foundation with stringed instruments of all types, and I have to say this little guy is an absolute delight to play. The sound is fantastic: clear, great presence but also with a throaty midrange and thumping percussive bass. I'm in love. One thing I would say is that due to this being an entry-level instrument, it's not particularly well set up. I've been reading about how to adjust the action and intonation on this crazy wooden floating bridge thing, and I think I'm gonna try and tackle that today or tomorrow. It's not debilitative but it's definitely not "dead on," so I will fix it. I love the finish, but the pickguard is kind of ugly with that giant E on it, so I took it off and I think it actually sounds better now that the lower f hole isn't obstructed. Anyway, great little instrument. Love playing it. Sounds amazing. Looks good. Great value. Thanks Beth <3

if your looking for a beginer mandolin I wouldnt suggest this one. ive had it and had problems with the bridge being warped or pulled too far back by the strings wand the frets were sharp I did send it back and got another one in bettern condition however it wasnt the best sound or the most comfortable.

I’m a guitar player and my girlfriend bought this for me a few years ago now. It’s been phenomenal. I play it a couple hours a week now and have to dust off my guitars when I play them as this gets so much more play. I was pretty stunned at the price when I came to look for an electric mandolin and seen this one was so reasonable.

It sounds amazing I absolutely love it and the strings it comes with will last a few months of occasional playing but with new strings it’s even better the one part that I wasn’t a fan of it’s pick guard you need to tighten it constantly overall it’s good and it lasts 3 years and it’s still nearly like new

I'm mainly a piano player but decided I wanted to learn mandolin so I picked up one these as an "entry level" low cost instrument. I struggled with it for weeks before I managed to convince myself that maybe I wasn't the problem. It turns out the neck "action" was out and could not be adjusted enough to correct it, rendering it impossible to tune properly. Long & McQuade on Bloor in Toronto explained the problem to me and very happily exchanged it for another MM-30, which I now play all the time - it sounds great, and I've really come a long way with it! There is nothing wrong with buying entry level instruments like this, but as a novice it can be very difficult to tell when something is defective. If you have any doubt, don't be embarrassed to go back in to the shop and ask.

Epiphone, makes top quality instruments at a very descent price, and this mandolin is great. Some of the frets needed filing to take out some of the sharp edges, I restrung it left hand and took of the pick guard. This mandolin plays very well and if they made left handed mandolins I would by one. Thanks Long & Mcquade for your lay away policy.

Us lefties get left out way to often. This is the least expensive mandolin out there besides the Denver model. I took the pick guard off and put on new strings. I did not have to file the nut, it seems ok. Under the cover at the base where the strings attach may turn out to be a problem, it has a staggered pattern. I asked Epiphone if this would be a problem but no answer yet. It sounds good so we will see.

Unfortunately for us lefties Epiphone doesnt make left handed Mandolins so I bought this mm-30 and I restrung it left. I am new to the mandolin and I sure didnt want to spend a small fortune, around 600.00 on a true left handed model. Us lefties sure do not have much choice so, oh well, that is the way it goes.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
