The Walkabout Scout Convertible Bass Combo. Its a Head. Its a Combo. Its BOTH. And either way, the TONE is huge! (Yet this is one petite rig.)

Start with the WalkAbout head: 300 watts for 13 lbs. A pure all-tube pre amp provides the tone. Tubes even drive our MOSFET power block giving WalkAbout the same great Simul-State performance as our bigger M-Pulse 600. (Bass Player magazine recently raved that the 600 scores big points for innovative design, luscious tone and roadworthy construction.)

Now enter the new Scout cabinet. A double break through in design, the Scout provides docking for the powerful WalkAbout. In minutes, with only a screw driver, you can convert the Walkabout from a head to an awesome featherweight combo.

And to magnify your booty, the Scout cabs boast a unique down-firing Passive Radiator. This low-end down-force amplifies the cabinet volume to produce shocking hugeness. And to keep it light, we use space-age neodymium speaker technology in both 12 and 15 inch Scout drivers.

Now, BETTER THAN EVER with Mesa's versatile Player Control Network featuring selectable 3-point crossover (3k / 4k / 5k), a premium Horn Attenuator & Instant Reset Horn Protection.

Small size. Huge sound. Unique flexibility. Hand-built quality: the Walk About Scout from Mesa/Boogie. Thirty years of service, helping bass players world-wide.

For small to mid size rooms this amp is the best I have owned. Very even frequency response across the spectrum. Clean sound cuts through at lower volume than my GK. But it has loads of volume if needed, even with the single 12” speaker. I removed the handles from the amp face plate - they wore holes in the cover.

I won't repeat what's already been said, it's all true. The gain is magic, parametric eq a blessing and this sucker honks. No horn, always dialed off. PERFECT!

I've have an 8ohm Walkabout Scout, which I pair with an 8 ohm scout 1x12 extension cab, (no longer available). Talk about a powerful articulate rig! I also have a Titan V12 (also no longer available) and a Power House 4x10 cab. Sound great too, but not as portable as the Walkabout. I love Mesa products...can't wait to try out the new Mesa Subway series amps!

This bass amp is everything you will ever need and probably more. And you can lift it by yourself! I used to run orange obc4x10 & mesa powerhouse4x10 with a Mark bass little tube 800 head, but there comes a point when go big or go home needs to be sacrificed for some portability. From practising in your room, jamming with the band, playing shows at bars/clubs/halls/outdoor stages this thing will not let you down. This amp will easily keep up with a full band of drums, two guitars running out of half stacks, vocals the whole works and your probably only using 30% of its capabilities. This is by far the best bass combo amp that has ever been made. Tested, Tried and True. Mesa Bass delivers everytime!

Have used this on an arena stage with incredible results. Replaced my Marshall JCM 800 with a 4/12. Very flexible sound. Great for eliminating feedback with uprights. Passive radiator works for a deep sound and parametric eq gives lots of flexibility .

i bought this little rig for much church, we needed something small, light weight and something that sounds clean. Our bass player plays a music man sterling 5 string on it and it sounds amazingly smooth. for $1700 (tax in) there isn't a better sounding amp out there.. very comparable to the $3000 head/cab rigs

Since the early sixties, I have had many good guitars, bases and amplifiers. I have a Fender American Standard P Base, an industry icon. recently had bought a GK 1001RB-II with a GK 4x10 & horn 800W 4 ohm Bass Cab. Great rig, super sound, ALSO SUPER HEAVY ! I had to get something smaller and lighter. I came across the Mesa Boogie Walkabout 112 Scout. Less than half the weight! The Sound was just a good as the GK rig and for an old blues hound like me, its the only way to go. I quickly exchanged the GK rig for the Mesa Walkabout 112 Scout and have been overwhelmed by the performance and big amp base sound. A great road amp and easy to lift in and out of my car with a small folding dolly easy to move around. I will mount casters on the bottom for convenience sake and I know this one will be a great performer for all gigs big and small and very loud.

Over the years I have had some impressive bass amp stacks all cost top dollars and were tops in weight. This Mesa Walkabout 12" is the greatest sounding compact amp you can get. Sure it's expensive, but like all Mesa Amps you get top quality. The Walkabout 112 is easy to load into any vehicle by one person without busting your back. The sound is tip notch and sounds like its humongous and it's clear, sweet, loud and simply the best bang for the pricey buck. It's all you need for any club, hall & out-door event that you may be at. It will even keep up with any loud drummer anytime. Check one out at any Long & McQuade any time, great guys & gals.

Great amp, big sound and great tone shaping from the EQ. I use it with the big and fat eq setting from the manual and it's great (4 string Jazz bass). Mine is a 4 ohm but if I'm playing outdoors I pair it with an 8 ohm SWR 15" cabinet (tweeter off). No problems with overheating. I prefer it to Mark Bass gear (more tube character in the tone). Genz Benz stuff is great too and worth a look as it is cheaper.

this is the best, most versitile bass amp I have ever played through. As a combo it is loud enough for most gigs. When I needed more I removed the head and used it with a 2x10/1x15 stack and it was awesome. If you want tubey SVT tone without breaking your back this amp delivers.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
