Hiss/Hum

The unit works as advertised but really ups the hiss/noise into the PA. Using isolated, grounded power and quality mic cables has not changed this. A consistent hum is present at all times, regardless of if the unit is actually 'on'. This hum disappears once the unit is taken out of the loop. Otherwise, it's quite useful. I'm not sure I will be able to keep it, though.

My previous review of July 3 2019 was too harsh. The pedal's duplicating feature DID NOT fail, the cabling got switched around by my grandkids basically doing karaoke. So, I've upped the ratings but still stop short of giving five stars as I still feel the doubling is somewhat subtle or inconsistent and the compression is too bright or crisp. Also, I am not keen about having to be current on firmware by having to download an app to a PC and then update the firmware. To avoid that I provided TC Helicon Service with my unit,'s serial # and asked if firmware was current. I was told the only way to know is to download the app and connect to the unit. Not a process I want to bothered with, it's typical that it gets messy and problematic, visit their forum site and you'll see.

Research before buying

I read many reviews from various sites, with some reviews complaining the duplicating feature is too subtle, or failed within a short time. Well after two months of light use, mine has gone from acceptable duplicating effect to so subtle I couldn't be sure it was working, and now there is no difference between duplicating being on or off. I feel ripped off and probably have to go through the huge hassle of downloading an app and firmware to load onto the pedal to see if that fixes it.

The first one I received was defective but thanks to the excellent staff at L&M Halifax a new one was shipped out to me post haste (thanks Nick). I'm using this pedal for recording and it does an amazing job of putting a really professional polish on a vocal track. The tone button puts your vocal exactly where you want it to be with little or no EQing. At this price I recommend this pedal to any one having a small budget minded project studio.

Great for My Use

I'm using a little battery amp, Vox 5 mini with some modifications to do a busking set. It runs guitar, vocals and backing tracks. In that, it can get a bit swampy in the sound. I'm also not the greatest fan of my own voice. It's generally on key, but not a great timbre or presence. I was looking for a vocal processor that would run on batteries. I have a voicelive from TC Helicon for my main setup and I like it so sticking with this company wasn't difficult. It was this or the Mic Mechanic. This does a great job projecting my voice past the competing sound and thickening up my voice. Sometimes I think to my self "who is singing?". It's really some great icing on the cake. It would be nice if the delay was on this as well.. then it really could be all a singer needs for most applications.
