I have used this amp for both solo acoustic and full-band performances, and I love what it offers; my only desired addition might be an effects loop.
SOLO: plenty of output to handle guitar and mic for pub/cafe gigs and street busking. The reverb is well-voiced, and has a good useable range on the control. I generally set it on an amp stand facing out from my mic stand, and it doubles monitoring and main duties.
BAND: I have successfully combined this with an amp modeler (Behringer TM300, a SansAmp clone) for electric guitar in a rock band; the venue was so small I needed an alternative to my normal rig.
It works far better than it should, standing out against drums, bass, guitar, keys, and 4 vocal mics. I've actually had complements on my guitar tone from this setup (+ a couple other pedals), and it's made my load-in/out incredibly low-effort.
All in all, if you play both acoustic and electric this is a great value (when combined with amp modelling for electric).

I bought this amp for small gigs and home playing. In my opinion it is the best bang for the buck. I tried others that might have sounded better but were more than rwice the money. I play a Gretsch guitar through it and sounds beautiful. Highly recommend this product. I have no buzzing or any other noise from mine.

This review is an update of my review of February 12, 2020. I have upgraded my overall review from three stars to four stars. Pros: Excellent build quality, power-to-weight ratio and features. Cons: Mediocre sound quality, noticeable background hiss, and annoying pop/zap when the amp is turned off. This amp has plenty of power for its size, but the sound quality isn't as good as a Fishman Loudbox Mini. The Acoustasonic 40 amp might be suitable in a performance situation, but I didn't find it suitable for practicing, mainly because of the background hiss, which also came through my headphones. I also have a Fender Frontman 10G guitar amp and a Fender Acoustic Junior amp, and they don't have the issues that the Acoustasonic 40 amp does. But the Acoustasonic 40 has good bang for your buck in a small lightweight package.

Use this for my electric acoustic and occasionally for my electrics for clean tones. I am very impressed with the sound quality and output of this amp. I also use for vocals and it is plenty loud enough for practice.
It is deceiving looking at the size of it, but the quality is excellent in my opionion.I tried several others in this price range and this was the best choice for me. and highly recommend it. I don't hear any hiss in mine, but if it is there it is not loud enough to bother me. It does make the loud pop, but as others have said this is normal so I am not concerned.

The previous 2 reviews are bang on. This a simple basic amp, has everything you need and nothing that you dont. Nice natural clear acoustic sound. Plenty loud enough for home use or jammin with friends. Ive yet to have it past half volume....There is a background hiss, that is barely noticable, and that amp does "zap" when turned off. Emailed Fender and they assured me that these 2 things are completely normal for this amp. Good enough for me. Plug in and rock on. Cheers, G :)

I bought this amplifier online without the benefit of trying it first. I bought it for its versatility, as it can accommodate two guitars, a guitar and a mic, or two mics. It has a separate reverb control on each channel, an auxiliary input jack, a headphone jack, and a DI output, and It can double as a mini PA system. But the first time I tried it, I was disappointed. It had an objectionable background hiss even with both volume controls turned off. The volume controls on both channels were intermittent below the 9 o'clock position. The amp made a loud "zap" sound when the power switch was turned off. I also have a Fender 10G guitar amp, and it doesn't have any of these issues. Worst of all, the sound quality of the Acoustasonic 40 is lacklustre compared to an industry standard like the Fishman Loudbox Mini. The cabinet build quality of the Acoustasonic 40 is excellent, but the electronics are below par. Fender, you can do better.

Sometimes less is more, and that's one of the things I like most about this amp. When looking at a lot of acoustic amps you're either faced with an amp designed for one instrument and a vocal mic, or you're stuck with a lot of extra stuff you don't really need (think effects here), or it costs an arm and a leg. This amp has two channels with the same basic controls - volume, bass, mid, treble, and reverb (the only effect that everyone needs) and it costs less than your guitar did. Its easy to dial in a decent sound with decent volume. If you need to be louder it has an XLR out you can send to a PA while you use the amp as a monitor. You can plug two instruments into it or a split stereo signal and you have the same controls for each. All in all a great simple amp for a good price and highly recommended.
