The 114e features Taylor's popular Grand Auditorium body style, whose physical dimensions have made it a popular choice for its appealing performance versatility. Layered walnut back and sides are topped with a solid Sitka spruce soundboard, which together produce signature clear and balanced tone with a pleasing projection and midrange focus. The 1-11/16-inch nut width is slightly narrower than the standard 1-3/4-inch width of other steel-strings in the 300 Series and up, making it easier for developing players to navigate the fretboard. And with Taylor's onboard Expression System 2 pickup, the guitar is ready to plug in whenever you are. The guitar ships in a durable lightweight gig bag.

I have known about Taylor guitars for many years, owned one briefly, but have finally made the choice to buy the Taylor 114e this weekend. There is something about a Taylor that is immediate love when I pick one up and strum it. I have tried most brands but nothing sounds like a Taylor to me. I am so happy with this purchase. I know I paid a little more for the Taylor brand but it's worth every penny. No other guitar provides the level of acoustic beauty that this guitar does for me. I'm in love with my 114e and will have this guitar for the rest of my life.

Went to my local L&M to research a cutaway to add to my collection. I own a splendid Larrivee OM3 Canadian 50th anniversary beauty. I also have a Garrison G10-hg, which is like a piece of teak furniture, made in NFLD, before Gibson bought them out. Heavy and mellow. Love them both. So I was looking for a kick around/travel/everyday instrument that was a cutaway and the equal of the Larrivee and Garrison, and offered good value. My preliminary internet search pointed me towards Yamaha and PRS models. None were in stock, but they had a few Martins and Taylor's (the 214ce and the 324ce). Nice but beyond my budget and not exceptional. I can't tell you why, but I picked up this 114e and was immediately surprised by its tone, ease of play. Maybe it was it's black pick guard, but something drew me toward it. You see I had a bias against Taylor guitars, thinking they were tinny, thin. Anyway, I played it and was very impressed. I noticed Brent, the salesman, watching me. Whoa this guitar sounds amazing! I moved around some, came back to play it again. Did I hear what I thought I did? Yes, but it isn't a cutaway. Put it down. ?Brent? I said, ?if this was a cutaway I?d purchase it? He smiled, went about straightening some items on the shelves. Damn, why does it have to be a cutaway. I'm rarely playing up the neck that far. Picked the guitar up again. So beautiful. Brent came over. He is charged with tuning the lot of instruments in the store. So every guitar has been in his hands. ?This is a special guitar? he tells me. Now I know he is a Taylor fan. I got that impression when I bought the Larrivee. He was kind of Luke warm to my decision. ?It's special? he says, and I agree. So I'm the proud owner of this guitar. You have to play it.

Great guitar worth every penny. Purchased this in December 2018. Played a lot of acoustics at this price range, even some with solid wood back and sides and for me this shined above them all. The 114 is a great all round body shape for strumming, picking and fingerstyle. Guitar was setup perfect out of the box just needed a quick tune. Comes with a really nice taylor gig bag, Es2 pickup and elixir strings on the guitar. Would highly recommend, 10/10 for price range. Also great customer service from the staff at Long & Mcquade. I always recommend you try a guitar in person at your local music shop so you can pick the guitar you like the sound, feel and looks of.

We own other guitars, two of which are Martins currently retailing @ approximately $1000. We added this Taylor & a MARTIN GPCX1RAE less then a year ago and still cannot separate them in terms of sound. quality of workmanship, or playability. All a pleasure to hear & to play. Certainly, Taylor will not be taking a back seat to anyone in the foreseeable future, based on the way they have conduct themselves in the world of guitar production & sales. (Since starting this review, our adult Son has taken ownership of the Taylor & hopefully will submit his own assessment.)

For a few months I rented a Gibson J-45 and a Taylor 314ce. They were amazing guitars, but out of my price range. I have always wanted a Taylor all my life. I tried a bunch out and came across this one, what a sound the look and feel I had to have it. And with the Es system what a bonus. So I took advantage of the zero percent financing. I mean for a guitar of this price range is unbelievable you can't beat it. Even the smaller body Gibsons did not sound half as good as this guitar. I put it up against my Martin D-16RGT, and I'm convinced it sounds just as good if not better. I'm extremely happy with this guitar. Thanks Long&Mcquade and Taylor guitars!! I'm one happy customer!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
