Q & A

Question: Can it be plugged into an 8 Ohm Eden 115 speaker?
- asked on Jan 4, 2024
Answer: Yes, it can, but at 8 ohms, it will only be putting out 100 watts, which may be a bit light for your Eden.

This little guy is a powerhouse for only 200w. I have owned mine since they hit the market 7 or 8 years ago. It has never failed me, its like a Timex watch "takes a licking and keeps on ticking" LOL. I use it live for smaller gigs and sometimes use it as a sub amp for drums. Another review said that it only has a speakon connector for the speaker out, but that is untrue as GK was genius and made the spekon center hole a 1/4 jack output!

Super tone and easy to use controls. The db switch is wonderful making it easy to use later at night or during recording sessions. The contour works well and scoops the sound nicely. Great sound and never had any issues with volume at shows. Built in di ran nicely at larger venues. Negative things about this amp though are there is no 1/4 inch jack for speaker you have to use speakon only. I just bought an adapter to allow me to use my regular cables. But sadly I put the amp away for a year since I started playing guitar in a band instead of bass. When I went to plug everything back in the amp wouldn't even turn on. The amp was stored in its box on a shelf with nothing on top of it or beside it. No water damage occurred and yet the amp is dead. After contacting gallien Krueger I find that I have to replace the whole board inside. It's a fairly cheap repair but after spending all this money on an amp that has barely 10 hours of playing on it I shouldn't have to spend any money on repairing it. I was a die hard gk fan until this happened. I will be repairing it so I can sell or trade it on a more reliable amp head, maybe traynor since I have never had a traynor fail on me.

Picked this unit up about a week ago. It really has an impressive low end for such a small package. I was able to carve out the tones I really wanted quick and easily. As a bargain hunter I was stunned I could get a classic GK sound for a fraction the cost. Great little amp!

Gone are the days when the bass player had the biggest arms in the band. This little head is perfect for small to med size rooms. Coupled with GK's MB115 cab(32lb) it sounds good and pumps out the volume~ plus you dont need to swallow back-pain pills after moving all your gear. Remember the old joke... What do you throw to a drowning bass player???? His Amp!!!! Not any more... his amp now floats.

I gambled on this unit. I had never seen one, never heard of it. The size and power was what I was looking for...coming from an Ampeg/Peavey/Ashdown background, I didn't expect much. I got more than I ever expected, and more...this little unit can fill a room of 100 people or better, no problem. It has a nice round tone, can provide lots of low end, lots of high end as well. I would have preferred a bit better mid-range control, possibly different EQ points for the mids. But I can make it work well for me. It is by far the best compact bass amp head I've ever played. I sold off my Ampeg and Ashdown. This unit gives me everything I need, and more...only one suggestion: offer speakon AND 1/4" spkr out. I am considering a 2nd one for my other bass rig...

tiny amp. huge sound. it sounds sharp and clear as compared to all the svt type amps and still has a fat round sound when you need it. tonight i played in a small room with one of the heaviest handed drummers i know, 2 big sounding guitars and a vocalist and this little amp stood up to all of it without a problem. there was no need to crank the volume. for the first time in the last year of using giant svt type bass amps i and the rest of the band could hear me.

Really big sound from a tiny amp. Sound reminds me of a GK 400RB. It has lots of solid sounding bottom with a clean tight top end. I gigged with it last weekend with a Fender pro 115 cab and a jazz bass. Playing classic rock covers. It always sounded like it had more to give. And it fit in the bag with mics and cables. It's a nice amp for small to medium venues. Even nicer if you have to carry it up stairs!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
