A Modern Legend is improved with Fender Innovation

The new Fender Mustang GT Digital Amplifers are now bigger and better with the addition of built-in Wi-Fi and brand new effects.

The Worlds First Guitar Amp with WiFi!

The Fender Mustang GT Series boasts the world's first Bluetooth and WiFi-equipped guitar amplifier, making it easy for you to download the latest updates, access Fender artist-created presets, and connect directly with a community of other creative players and music makers like yourself.

Upgraded Modeling

Seven decades worth of experience crafting inspirational tools have been employed to add new (and better) amp and effects models while making it easier to use all of this without sacrificing one iota of power. It is now easy to control a studio's worth of authentic amp and effects models with one finger via Bluetooth and the exclusive Fender Tone app.

Packed with 21 classic amp models - everything from the renowned '59 Bassman to modern metal - and 47 different effects, the Mustang GT-40 can easily recreate classic tones or create brand-new, never-before-heard sounds. Fender's new algorithms yield even higher fidelity and more realistic response, along with more signal path flexibility so you can move effects anywhere in the signal chain for creative exploration. Program your sounds in the studio on the Mustang GT-40's large, full-colour LCD display and then, with one hand, take them anywhere for the most realistic listening experience possible.

All About the Sound

Fender's updated amp models let your instrument's voice and the dynamic nuances of your playing come through, reacting just like the originals to your every move. Lighten your attack to "clean up" your sound or dig in to make it grunt or howl. Mustang GT-40 and its dual 6" speakers reproduce every part of the performance with precision, as well as providing full-range output in stereo when streaming audio from your mobile device via wireless Bluetooth.

Fender Tone

Adding convenient control to the Mustang GT-40's power is the easy-to-use Fender Tone app. Not only can you control the amp in real time with one finger, just like the originals, you can easily upgrade the amp's capabilities, adding more power and presets without patching a single cable or plugging in a soldering iron. And, you can connect easily to the Fender Digital ecosystem for learning and sharing.

An Amp for All Uses

Coming in a nicely compact enclosure, the Mustang GT-40 digital amplifier is a perfect fit for placing on a desktop for practicing at home or recording in the studio yet powerful enough to be used on stage. The Mustang GT-40 is easy for beginning players but has enough options and power to serve even the most veteran of guitarists.

Using this amp on a daily basis now, turns out to be a sweet little acoustic amp, use the Acoustic Sim setting and the Princeton clean setting really nice. App interface works every time Fender got this setup right. With bluetooth you can stream spotify through the amp and jam along or just use it as a stereo set up, decent sound. Very happy with my purchase would recommend.

Difficulty connecting to WIFI resolved. WIFI connectivity was OK on other devices except Mustang GT. Did a reboot of WIFI system and connectivity was 100% on Mustang GT.

Well worth the cost, clean tones are great, controls are simple and intuitive and simple. Tone app and GT 40 work well together once you get everything synced up. An excellent feature loaded amp, I'm very happy with my purchase. Connecting to WIFI proved difficult and frustrating. Amp would not recognize my network even when input manually. Recognized my neighbors and many others. After repeated attempts using neighbors WIFI from numerous locations around the house I finally updated the firmware. Using my iphone as a hot spot did not work. This seems to be a common problem with numerous mentions on Fender sites. A minor inconvenience, amp is great and all works well once you have the latest firmware.

I have owned this amp now for over a year and have recently updated it with fenders new software and updates. I do think this is a great amp for home use or jamming with some friends. I have even used it in a band practice and with a drummer that's not too loud this amp does well (admittedly i prefer my tube amp for band duty) My experience with this is to not be fooled by the negative reviews on youtube. I find it sounds great, especially on the 65 fender twin setting. There are some amp types etc that I thing don't sound good but that is personal preference. If you take time to learn the settings and make proper adjustments you will be happy with this amp. one tip i will give is to adjust the global tone control to either guitar focus 1 or 2. Also this amp is NOT good for pedals. if you want effects use the built in ones. it reacts better to those. Overall i give this 5 out of 5. Its light, portable, sounds great when used properly and has a variety of tones and effects built in. get the optional foot switch for more control when playing and for the looper. Use the amp at ear level to hear it best.

fun fact: this Fender GT40 is a full range stereo device with two 6.5" 'full range' speakers -- if you upgrade to the GT100 version then you get a 12" Celestion guitar speaker (mono) which is not a full range speaker. result: you can use this GT40 as a full range stereo bluetooth speaker for streaming spotify off your phone and it sounds great; you can set this thing to 'bassman59' and plug a P-bass into it and it sounds great; use the aux-in to amplify an electronic drum kit..? or a vocal pre-amp..? why not. best $329 ever.

Fender hit this one out of the park! The GT40 is so feature rich that I can do without a bunch of pedals that I usually use along with my amp. Its comprehensive with effects and amp/cabinet simulations. Bluetooth and WiFi enabled. I previously owned the Boss Katana 50 amplifier but this little baby blows the nuts right off of it in sound and features. Its very light and portable too with 40 watts of power. My 50 watt Boss was a much heavier beast to carry. You wont regret this purchase. Plus its a Fender product so you know its going to keep its mojo and resale value for years to come.

Well without further ado we welcome a new, and some might say improved, Mustang amp from Fender. A capable 40W (2x20W) stereo amp with 21 amp models accompanied by 46 built-in FX and this new pony sports Fenders Special Design 2x6.5 speaker configuration and It's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled. As a stay at home practice amp the GT-40 will perform admirably but I'm left wondering why a practice amp that would be suitable for recording would not have XLR outs, the 100 and 200 watt versions of the new Mustangs are equipped with XLR outs, but the GT-40 features only the USB recording out, that's not a deal breaker but disappointing nonetheless. If you are looking for High Gain the GT-40 falls short by a fair margin but the GT-40 boasts a marked improvement in clean sounds, this amp is worth the admission price alone for it's clean sounds, that's where this amp really amp shines. If you need a foot switch? well that will cost you extra. It weights in at 17 lbs and is a compact 11 in. x 12 in. x 18 in. To compare the new GT-40 with the older model Mustang II V.2 really isn't a fair comparison because because their function and design are worlds apart. For jamming with friends or for use as a practice amp this is perfect (don't let the 2x6.5 speaker design fool ya, it delivers in a big way). In short the GT-40 is built well and offers a ton of usable sounds all for a small investment.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
