The MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher is a new-concept pedalboard solution that maximizes your creative options by combining a world-class multi-effects engine and multi-pedal switcher in one small, dedicated unit. The MS-3 is capable of running six internal pedal effects at once while seamlessly integrating three of your favourite external pedals. It also offers deep rig control capabilities, allowing you to switch amp channels, adjust effects in real time, work with MIDI devices, and more.

I picked up this unit in December and have used it for numerous gigs and studio recording. I had a massive pedalboard with over 15 pedals for a while and found it hard to switch between different sounds while playing in a live situation. When I bought this unit I wanted to downsize my board and have a small rig that could do everything really well. The ms-3 was perfect. I sold most of my pedals except for my three favourite drives. A friedman beod an ibanez ts9 and a fulltone plimsoul. I was very impressed by the internal effects such as the reverbs, delays, and modulation. I also use this to switch between channels on my amp. I found that the effects in this unit sounded better than most of my pedals that I had previously as they were way more crisp and clear sounding. I think this is due to the fact that with a switcher the signal chain is shorter therefore having less impedance. What I love most about this unit is that with the press of one button I can activate anything I want. My only complaint is that the loops cannot be moved around so when I want to stack my distortions in different ways I can’t. But overall if you don’t have this unit BUY ITTT, you won’t regret it.

I picked this up to use as a centerpiece for a fly rig. The cost/benefit was a major factor - it is quite loaded with features that I haven't even fully discovered yet. I do use the software which I find helpful.
Quality of the tones were what you would expect from Boss. Great pallette to choose from and not hard to dial in. I started out using the software exclusively to edit, which works great to build patches according to your setlists/recall etc, but I have found that lately I am using it manually.
My only gripes are that loops 1,2,3 are fixed and cannot be arranged in a specific order. NOt a deal breaker for the money - but it is worth knowing before you make the jump. Also, there are issues in patch mode of delay trails dropping with this unit. There is a way around that apparently, but I havent quite figured that out and I ended up using a DL4 in one of my loops to resolve that problem. (redundant, but I am still hoping for a firmware update to change that.) For that reason, I gave it a 4.5 Overall.
Very good quality, small footprint, "Do anything" box for the price of a cpl of pedals that makes it easy to add a few analog boxes of your choice.

This is an amazing unit. There were a couple pedals I was looking to buy then this caught my eye. For the same price of two boutique pedals I could pick up this. I am blown away! I’ve owned this for 6 months now and am still discovering things about it. I’ve owned multi effect pedals before and found them to be very cheap sounding so I started buying individual analog pedals. But after giving this a try I have to say that the digital technology has made huge steps the last few years. Boss hit a home run here. I use one of the loops for the 4 cable method and run a distortion and overdrive in the other two. I run a fuzz before and a bunch of modulation pedals and a looper after. The versatility with this setup is crazy. By running an expression pedal into the MS3 you can manipulate most parameters which gives me insane creative possibilities. Only thing that would make it perfect is being able to change the position of the 3 loops, but by using the built in effects and moving their positions around make that a very small issue. This has become an amazing toy and worth every penny!

I've used various switching systems(very expensive ones at that) throughout the years as well as all flavors of multi-effects. No matter what the setup, there was always something missing or omitted.One detail that was overlooked that required purchasing more gear to get what you needed.
Not with the MS-3
Boss has taken a good look at these systems and done their homework. There is very little to nothing this very small unit cannot do. As a switching unit alone it would be worth the price. 3 pedal loops, 1 control in for amp channel switching, 2 controls out for expression pedals or additional switches(tamp tempo etc..) Everything is completely programmable within the unit and PER PATCH(brilliant) as well along with all the switches that come on the MS3. MIDI out with nothing gimped(Looking at you Line6 M series) (PC and CC control). The PC editor is one of the best I've used, Super simple.
I have not owned a Boss effect since a chorus pedal in the 80's. The built-in effects are top notch. Very surprised specifically with the overdrives. And all of the effects can be moved around the signal chain as needed.
Check out some videos to get an idea of everything this little unit can do, true innovation from Boss!

This is really a great unit. Comes with the legendary Slow Gear and Terra Echo effects. Only gripe I have is that the 3 loops are locked together.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
- Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
- Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
- No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
- Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
- Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
- Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
- Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
- Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
- NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
- USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
- GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
- BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
