The 128GB PortaGig 800 SSD Portable Hard Drive from Glyph-Technologies is a portable bus-powered storage device with FireWire-800 and USB 2.0 interface capabilities. The drive is housed in an attractive black enclosure, which boasts an impressive industrial design. A carrying sleeve is included.
SSD drives delivers superlative performance and reliability. With no moving parts, there is no risk of a physical disk failure. The drive is capable of sustained read speeds of up to 85MB/sec when connected via FireWire-800, making it an excellent choice for data-intensive applications.
SSD storage delivers instant access to data, making it ideal for audio and video editing. You'll be able to work with a large number of audio tracks, even at high edit density. The PortaGig SSD has been tested for playback of 128 tracks in Pro Tool, with 3 edits/second across every track.
Due to its use of SSD memory, the drive features no moving parts. This eliminates the possibility of mechanical failure due to vibration, shock, and heat.
The drive produces absolutely zero noise, uses less power and generates less heat than traditional magnetic disks, and is lighter in weight.
Housed in a fanless aluminum enclosure, the drive is bus-powered and extremely light, perfect for use as a portable drive. An AC power adapter is included for systems that cannot provide sufficient power via USB or FireWire to power the drive. The drive features 2 FireWire-800 ports, a USB 2.0 port, a rear power switch, and is designed around the Oxford 934 chip.
Integrated Error Correction Code (ECC) functionality ensures that data is transferred accurately, without errors. The drive also features wear leveling technology, which ensures that data is written lesser-used locations in memory, helping to prolong the useful life of the disk.
