Good clean sound, a really solid offering at the price point. After the free set up it plays crisp and clear all the way up the neck. Action is reasonably low for ease of play. Bright mids and highs. Could use a bit more punch in the bass department but it?s clean and adequate. The Taylor at this price was louder but didn?t have as sweet a tone and was hpl construction. The electronics are straight forward and sound pretty good when the guitar?s amplified. I?m impressed that the body and neck are solid wood and so should improve in tone with age. It sounds better than it?s competitors in my opinion already so I?m looking forward to that. Overall this guitar perfectly fills the cost-benefit/value niche. If you pay less, you immediately move to laminate or lesser brands. If you pay more, you won?t be getting much improved sound until you?re paying way more. Features lost a point by default first because the electronics are spartan although perfectly effective. Quality lost a point because lower end Martins use lower end wood. The grain isn?t perfectly homogenous on the top and it deviates toward the bass strings on the back of the headstock.
