Features: Remember, its a Classic - NOT a standard or HP model. no it doesn't have push-pull pots, dip switching or phase reversing...BUT it does have a upgraded SwitchCraft 3-way selector, a Real USA Bigsby, Locking Grover tuners & Vibramate Bigsby accessories so you can easily convert it back to a stop bar. Quality: Haven't found a single flaw with my Les Paul. nope not even the typical little smidge of staining on the biding. A superb example of what Gibson is capable of. every note rings true, i can chord at the 12th fret and it sounds beautiful. Value: Value is tricky with instruments in this price range, As it really does depend on you subjective opinion. but as far as USA Made instruments go. its a perfect 5/5. especially considering that the guitar is $2100 while a regular standard without a Bigsby goes for around $2500. great opportunity for anyone who wants a rocking Gold Top.

Little back story... I acquired a depinto galaxy 4 guitar for 300 bucks , sold it for 800. Added 200 to that 800 and bought a firebird ( total investment of 500 ). Traded that firebird for a fender strat Mary Kaye reissue, sold that strat for 2000. Long and mcquade had a big sale on, bring this Gibby down to 2100, and also this particular guitar had a nasty scratch on its side ( directly beneath where it would sit on ones leg if played while seated ) bringing the price down to 1800. So I bought it. I bought this guitar for a total investment of $500. Best 500 bucks I ever spent It says that this model is wieght relieved , but compared to a strat or a tele it still feels heavy. I cannot find any other version of this guitar that comes standard with a bigsby, so I am inclined to assume that this is a special version just for long and mcquade?? Either way, the best part of that is the fact it is not a drilled in bigsby, but rather a bigsby mounted to a Vibra-mate system and also comes with the little vibramate adapter that "makes string changes easier" ( a bit silly imo, but still, they didn't need to include that, but they did- if you dont like it, take it off) That being said, if you end up not liking having a bigsby, or you want to switch it out to another suitable Gibby, you can do so with no mods to the guitar. You'll need to get yourself a stop tail and some posts, but that's not a big mod. ( is that even a mod? Turning something back to standard configuration for a model that has been changed to have a mod as standard ? My head hurts!) So. This is supposed to be a review, so here we go. Features. No coil taps - good. Why buy a Corvette then only drive it on 4 cylinders? You want a single coil sound, use a fender. Fender does singles better than gibson ever could. And vise versa. These puppies sounds delightfully warm in the neck and hot and crispy in the bridge. Perfectly balanced together via the switchcraft three way toggle in the middle position. Pure Gibson tone. Nice. Locking tuners are a plus when changing strings, but more importantly provide a more solid grab than the traditional Gibby tuners. The Vibramate installed bigsby. Live the aesthetic as well as the juicy subtle vibes it produces. Your not dive bombing with this unit, but if you want more than subtle? Listen to some old school Neil Young for inspiration there. Quality My example of this guitar is of exceptional quality. Fretwork is impeccable ( and I am a stickler for that ) Binding joints are good, no goopy glue lines ( a common gibby no-no ) solid internals and well soldered electronics, super clean. Everything is as expected for a guitar in this price range. Very nice Value For 500, cant be beat For 2400, it's good. Your paying for a brand and a status along with quality. There are other guitars in this price range that I feel are better value , but this is not a disappointing one. Overall I am very happy with this guitar.

Just picked this one up yesterday. Finish was spotless and was set up to play. Love the different tone delivered versus my 2016 LP standard. Good differentiation between the two. Running through a Mesa Boogie Mark V 35. The combo of this guitar and that amp is awesome.

Just purchased this and am very happy to finally have a Goldtop. Such a high quality finish! This guitar is not only beautiful to look at, but also very well made. I am very impressed with the play-ability and great sound range from the pick ups. The Bigsby tail piece is a really cool addition that is very functional adds a unique aesthetic. This will quickly become my favorite in my collection!

I hesitated but eventually pulled the trigger. Now I have no regrets. I think the quality is pretty good for a modern non custom shop LP. I can be a stickler and I have to say it's well finished. I hate the rear cover plastics and the inability of Gibson to centre the toggle switch cover exactly. I'll switch out the rear plastic myself. The neck is perfect for me as I have large hands. The neck relief was about perfect however the fretboard was as dry as sandpaper. I did the usual re-stringing and fretboard conditioning immediately. A big improvement. I really like L&M but I wish they looked after their guitars better in that regard. The guitar sounds good and plays well. I quite like the resonance of the chambered body and it helps with mitigating the extra weight of the Bigsby. That said I will but in some sweeter pick-ups like Lollars as I'm after less grind and bark. In conclusion, yes you pay for the headstock and the perceived mojo. Is it worth it? That's intangible. It sure looks good though and I don't want to put it down! It might soon be my number 1.

This is one awesome guitar. Sweet sound.I had a 1999 Version which I sold and regretted. This one is way better with all the features such as the alnico pickups ,speed knobs,Grover locking tuners, orange drop capacitors, metal jack plate. The Bigsby takes you to the WHO,CSN and Gretsch territory. Far superior to a Stratocaster vibrato set up as the actual bridge is hardtailed and vintage wired. The sound and sustain are the kickers. Price matched and got mine for $2049 + tax!!!! Fit and finish are flawless.

Not only does this guitar look beautìful but the sound and tone is truly what Gibson is known for. The bigsby tremalo is easy to use and doesn't interfere with regular playing. I love this guitar!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
