As a temporary pickup this is pretty good. I tested it with a Norman Dreadnaught guitar and it sounded richer than my built-in piezo under saddle pickup. Unfortunately it is hardwired at both ends making it difficult to leave in your guitar - because the cord would be hanging out. Yes I could easily remove it with a screwdriver but that just isn't convenient enough when one is accustomed to built-in pickups. Sound wise it has a good signal strength and rich full sound but lacked overtones that one would get with a microphone. Other reviewers suggested different EQ pedals and preamps but honestly why would anyone buying a $100 pickup spend an additional 200-300 in pedals... The only real use case for this pickup is as an emergency backup for gigging if your main pickup breaks. Sound hole pickups can be good but the wiring on this just makes it inconvenient.

As noted above, the Neo-D02 works well with the Boss AD-2 preamp, but the preamp isn't necessary. I find this pickup accurately reproduces the depth of my acoustic guitars (I swap it between 3 of them) and does so for a very reasonable price. It takes a bit of time to wiggle it out of one sound hole and into another, and needs a small screwdriver or penknife to work the clamps, so you'll want to swap it between sets rather than between songs. But for less than 90 bucks, you can buy another. I've essentially made all my old vintage acoustics into gig-worthy performers with this pickup. It's an amazing value.

You know that super bright harsh sound you get when you plug in an ordinary semi-acoustic guitar into an amp? Ya, not very appealing. I got this pick up today and I'm instantly sold. However, I must add that there are two pedals I wouldn't use without it. First is the Boss AD-2 Acoustic Preamp which adds just the right amount of warmth and resonance you'd hear with a well miced acoustic guitar. The second is much less sexy but helps with any rig, a Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor. Since you need to turn up your amp a bit to get the pick up to full potential, the NS-2 cuts out any possible high gain hiss. You might want to get an EQ pedal to further shape your sound, but with these 3, I'd say you're good to go. Oh, and the AD-2 has a line out so you might find it's your recording sound too.

Needed something easy and quick to install on my Tres as I did not want to drill holes so as not to change the acoustics. I was surprised at how good this sounds for a very cheap pickup. The noise that people complain about can be reduced with positioning and EQ. A volume paddle is required since this is a passive pickup.

This pickup sounds great. To me it adds a little woody brightness with my old strings, I have not tried new strings. Easy to install and contrary to other reviews didn't need to be modified to prevent strings touching. Fit great. The only con to this pickup is the noise..if I am facing the wrong way it will produce a lot of noise, turned and angled slightly and the noise is gone to an acceptable level for recording. A 'sweet spot? that acts something like feedback. Otherwise it's pretty good and worth the money. Alternatively I would rather an acoustic/electric with built in pickup but this setup is a close second!

Bought this to replace an old soundhole pickup, thought I would be upgrading. Nope. Extremely low output, no adjustable features (like volume) and very noisy when you crank up the gain to get it where you need for live performance. Noise aside, sounds very muffled, lots of weird and abrasive frequencies that stick out like a hundred sore thumbs. Price point is nice and cheap, but not worth it in my experience. Even my old Seymore Duncan Woody that I thought I'd replace sounds much better.

I tried a number of different acoustic guitar pickups in my search for the grail. Scrutinized each very carefully. This puppy was BY FAR the best one. DEAD quiet (humbucker) and it did not infuse the chamber resonance of the guitar so, absolutely no feedback. I gave it 5 stars and I mean it. Wouldn't buy anything else. To note: It has a lower volume than most pickups due to the passive humbucking but a non issue with any decent amp. Records beautifully. No hum, no buzz, no feedback. Also, if you choose, you can temporarily mount it in the hole as it comes with a long chord and 1/4" jack. I put a strap jack on and wired it permanently.

Don't want an acoustic with pick up drilled into the guitar with an eyesore preamp on the side. So I got this and it sounds amazing. great signal strength and its clear as a bell. I like it a lot and I highly recommend.

It is ok to use on the stage, but use it to record would not be an good idea because of the noise for the single coil design.

So far, I have installed this on two guitars: Yamaha FG430, and a Taylor 455 twelve-string. This pick-up delivers extremely nice tones, crisp bass and sparkling highs up and down the fretboard on both guitars. That no battery is required is also an excellent feature. Volume pedal required though. Great product.

Instead of jumping in an installing something more expensive on a Guitar(s) you do not want to drill and fuss with this pickup fills that need well. with an inline 1/4 to 1/4 female connector you can lengthen the distance to Amp or monitor. an inline Volume pedal is a must, as you have no vol or tone controls on the unit.
