I love the layout of this book for both my students and my daughter. The exercises and warm ups are great and I use them with more advanced students too.
The pictures are really helpful especially now, teaching online.

Finally! This book has such great information, written out so that anyone can understand and apply. The book includes a wonderful break down for a students practice, addresses the importance of stretching and warming up, has fantastic warm up and left and right hand technique exercises as well as some nice easy fiddle tunes for beginner fiddle players. As a violin/fiddle teacher I highly recommend this book for its focus on technique and tunes in an engaging manner. Great Job Shamma!

A great instructional music book for students of any age. My students and I benefitted tremendously from Shamma's detailed and delightfully illustrated instructions. From left and right hand technique to practice tips, our improved playing ability for danceable tunes and sing-alongs has been a joy to discover. Thank you Shamma!

What a wonderful find...a positive, upbeat, beginner fiddle book. This user friendly book is a great teaching resource for young children and an after lesson follow up for parents to use to encourage practice in a positive way. It has and easy to follow format with a beautiful combination of art and still photography. As a teacher, I especially loved phrased questions like ?is your wrist straight, or are you serving pizza?... simple examples children understand. I will definitely use it in our studio. A well needed user friendly resource. Thank you for developing Once Upon A String

I absolutely love Shamma Sabir's "Once Upon A String" book. I have a 7-year-old student who I've tried with other method books to teach how to read music. Her attention span wasn't able to be held for long due to the dryness and lack of "fun," for lack of a better description. With "Once Upon A String," she loves the pictures, the flow of the lessons, and she is actually learning with ease! I eagerly await the next one in the series!
