I should have bought two when I had the chance. The cast base is solid with a rubber surround for whatever it sits on. I can say the metal rod is a bit frustrating to adjust with my ULTIMATE TELESCOPING PRO MIC BOOM - also sold by these guys. The good news is it doesn't really matter cause it just works.
When it was time to order another I can only say the supply chain isn't instilling confidence. Nice difference between its counterparts are the mat black color. I am also assuming from the pictures that the cast base is wider than the competitor who is about half the price.
