The flagship Katana-Artist combo takes Katana performance to new heights, offering all the latest series features along with numerous refinements tailored for the needs of professional players. Outfitted with a premium 12-inch Waza speaker, semi-closed cabinet, newly retuned amp characters, and much more, the 100-watt Katana-Artist is a powerhouse tone machine for all types of music, from blues, jazz, and country to the heaviest rock styles.

Refined Tones for Stage and Recording
Built for pro players, the 100-watt Katana-Artist combo features a new cabinet design with front-facing controls and a premium Waza 12-inch speaker. The semi-closed back is ideal for rock tones, and the tight, rugged construction produces rich, full sound with impressive projection. You can further tweak the response for your touch with the dedicated Cabinet Resonance control, which customizes the dynamic interaction between the amp's output section and speaker. In addition, the sound and response of the Katana-Artist's five amp characters have been fine-tuned to work in perfect harmony with the Waza speaker and new cabinet.

Waza Speaker: Legendary Tone, Modern Power
A standout feature of the Katana-Artist is its custom Waza 12-inch speaker, which produces tones inspired by the benchmark 25-watt British stack speaker from the 1960s. BOSS set out to fully capture the rock speaker's sought-after sound and response, but with the practical benefit of greatly increased power handling. Delivering rich, resonant tone with wide dynamic range, the Waza speaker brings the ultimate vintage rock sound to a compact 100-watt combo amp for the very first time.

Leave Your Pedalboard at Home
With its built-in BOSS effects, the Katana-Artist lets you perform anywhere with just a guitar and amp. Connecting to BOSS Tone Studio via USB provides access to 58 fully-customizable effects, and you can load your favorites into the amp's various effects sections. Going beyond standard distortion, delay, and reverb, the selection includes powerful tone-shapers like pitch shifting, ring mod, channel and global EQs, and many more. There's also an effects loop for patching in that external gear you can't live without. And via BOSS Tone Studio, you're able to move the loop's position, adjust input/output gain, and select series/parallel operation as needed.

Grab-and-Go Operation
While the Katana-Artist includes many advanced features, it's amazingly simple to operate. Familiar controls for gain, presence, and the three-band tone stack let you dial in sounds quickly, while essential effects parameters are adjusted with a simple knob twist. And with the convenient Power Control, you're able to roll back the overall volume while retaining the expressive tone and feel of a cranked-up amp. The Katana-Artist also features line, USB, and phones/recording outputs with cabinet simulation, allowing you to send mic'd up amp tones to a PA system, computer DAW, or headphones. Using the panel's Air Feel knob, the spatial character of the cab simulation can be instantly adjusted to suit different songs or styles.

I tried a boss katana amp some time ago and wasnt too impressed maybe it was me..I saw this newer version so i thought I'd give it a go. I have to say it sounded better, more tube amp like. Now, it will not replace a dedicated tube amp but its pretty darn close and bottom line, once you get it dialed in, its a fun amp to play. I think the secret is to be careful with the top end of things. I have the presence off and raise the master volume to 2 o'clock or so and adjust from there. This will get things cooking. I also tried hooking up to a 2 12 cab and it sounded really good. Its a great little amp.

I was a tube guy for years. Marshall JCM800 with 4X12 Cab. Played with some Mesa, Orange and Fender stuff.Getting older and lugging this and the Marshall stuff to gigs, plus individual pedals/GT-100, etc., getting harder. Read lots of reviews including those from tube guys on Sweetwater Music. This is a step up from the Katana 100. I bought the Artist. It surprised me as to how good it sounds. Especially for a solid state amp. Someone else said they hit the nail on the head...I'd agree. Only thing I didn't like was having to buy the GA-FC footswitch as an extra. This put the whole rig with tax close to a $1000. It sounds great...especially considering it's a combo...and I tried lots before buying this one.

In my opinion, Boss really hit the nail on the head with this amp. It sounds absolutely fantastic and definitely raises the bar for solid state amps. The included Boss effects provide endless creative possibilities; and, being able to switch between .5, 50, and 100 watts makes it a viable option almost anywhere. It also sounds great through a good pair of headphones, for those of you wondering about that. My only gripe is that it has to be usb-connected to a laptop to use the tone software -- an iPad app would have been ideal.

Better than the 212 Katana 100 10 of 11 customers found this review helpful

I had the Katana 212 for couple of months but it had some issues so I had to take it back. Instead of going with the 212 again I decided to try this beast. This is easily the best amp I have ever owned. The Kat 212 sounded really good when it worked properly but there was something missing no matter what I did with the parametric eq. The Artist sounds better out of the box and using the parametric/10 band eq. The Waza Craft speaker seems to have more character including tighter low end (though a bit less), more natural mids and highs. Some other bonuses are being able to switch the cab resonance without using the software and a speaker out so you can use it with a cab. The only problem I have with this amp is the price to performance ratio is not as good as the 100 112, but I still find it's worth the price for me. This amp is honestly amazing, it's extremely simple to use with the front facing controls but extremely deep using the Bose Tone Studio. The sound is by far the best I have ever had in any rig that I have owned.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
