The SA Set combines the attributes of the early Strat sound but with an added midrange response and higher output, giving it "bell-like" ringing harmonics and increased sustain. One single Alnico bar magnet delivers classic overdrive with a smooth midrange distortion, while still retaining the familiar high-end of a single-coil pickup. These characteristics provide greater versatility than what is normally found in single-coil pickups. Favorites of Steve Lukather and David Gilmour just to name two, the SA Set comes with volume and tone controls, and a five-position switch which is all ready to mount onto your pickguard.

Question: Are they active single coils and require a 9 volt battery?

Answer: The SA is an active single coil pickup that requires a 9 volt battery, loaded with an Alnico V bar magnet that has an unmistakable Strat™ sound: bright, airy, with a rich bottom end.

Question: If these pickups were to be installed in a fender strat would a hole at the back of the guitar have to be routed out for the battery compartment? Or the battery would go under the pickguard?

Answer: There should be room for the battery in the body cavity of most Strats.

The only advantage to a separate compartment would be ease of battery replacement.

Question: Do these pickups come with black tone knobs?

Answer: This set comes with volume and tone control pots only. No Knobs are included.
