Long & McQuade is pleased to bring you this Special Edition Taylor 414ce guitar with rosewood back and sides, and a host of custom elements. The acoustic/electric Grand Auditorium 414ce-R Special Edition responds well to an array of playing styles thanks to Taylor's flagship body shape and the classic pairing of rosewood and spruce. Rosewood lends a lively overtone sparkle to the treble notes, while the guitar's overall voice delivers a pleasing mix of warmth and tonal definition. Whether you like to strum, flatpick or play fingerstyle, this guitar makes an inspiring playing partner. Custom features include grained ivoroid binding, "Engraved Victorian" fretboard inlays, abalone rosette, and shaded edge burst finish. The guitar comes equipped with Taylor's Expression System 2 acoustic electronics along with a Venetian cutaway, and ships in a Taylor deluxe hardshell case. Also available in left handed model.

Special Features:

  • Abalone rosette

  • "Engraved Victorian" fretboard inlays with matching peghead inlay (first-ever for a Taylor)

  • Shaded Edge Burst finish

  • Gold hardware

  • Grained ivoroid binding

Grand Auditorium Shape
The Grand Auditorium is the most versatile and popular of Taylor's guitar shapes. Its well-defined midrange contributes to a clear and balanced tone. It's responsive enough for fingerstyle players and powerful enough for pickers and strummers to get a lively response. Think of it as a jack of all trades.

Tonewoods
As a guitar soundboard, or top, Sitka spruce is the tonewood standard of the modern era. It's used on 85-90 percent of the guitars that Taylor makes. Its combination of strength and elasticity translates into a broad dynamic range, yielding crisp articulation and allowing for everything from aggressive strumming and flatpicking to fingerpicking. Sitka spruce is Bob Taylor's personal favorite for an all-around great guitar.

One of the most popular and traditional guitar woods of all time, rosewood takes the basic sonic thumbprint of mahogany (which has a strong midrange) and expands it in both directions. Indian rosewood's sweeping frequency range at both ends of the tonal spectrum has made it one of the most popular and musically rich tonewoods. Its deep lows can assert a throaty growl, while bright, sparkling treble notes ring out with bell-like, high-fidelity clarity.

Expression System 2 Electronics
Taylor's breakthrough acoustic pickup marks a major advance in piezo technology thanks to a patented behind-the-saddle design. The unique placement of three piezo sensors captures a more dynamic range of acoustic sound and responds well in a variety of settings.

I just bought this guitar at the Kanata store. Thank you to Sean as he was a great help. I was going to buy the 814ce but this guitar called to me. Better looking and close in features. The build quality and sound are amazing! It has an incredible esthetic as well. Top quality instrument and highest recommendation.

I have been mostly an electric player for over 20 years. Recently I found myself picking up my Taylor Academy 12e and enjoying it. I decided that a wanted an upgrade, I tried out many models, builders editions and fell in love with this one. First of all it is gorgeous and the workmanship is incredible. The sound is full and clear, and the playability makes me much more comfortable playing acoustic

Went looking for another acoustic. I tried the 214, 314 and assorted acoustics. The 414 ce was tops. Sound is terrific and staying in tune was fantastic. Comes with very nice case which I expected considering the cost.

Honestly can’t say much about this other than it’s my favourite acoustic guitar. It’s expensive but the smile it puts on your face, the way it sounds and the way it feels are totally priceless. Highly recommend Taylor guitars.

Own and love a Martin D28 and an SC13E, wanted to add something with more sparkle and better electronics. Definitely has its own character. Love the way this guitar looks, plays, and sounds. Days when I don't want to put it down.

This guitar by Taylor is incredible. I’ve always been a fan of the Gibson Songwriter and when I finally committed to buying it this Taylor caught my eye and emotions. It sounded incredible and playing on it felt nothing like the Songwriter. My dream of owning the Songwriter may never come but I came home with a better dream. :)

Again made the mistake of going into a Long and McQuade and "trying" out some guitars. Try this Martin naahh try this Gibson nope - mmm heh that one over there catches my eye a Taylor Special Made In USA burst finish gold hardware victorian lace pearl inlays - and the playability of the beautiful not too narrow not too wide neck. I am very picky and this one just spoke to me and i took it home. Heirloom. You would regret buying this guitar what sound and action and fretboard!

The features of this guitar land closer to 800 series than 400. It looks beautiful, plays great like all Taylors and rings clear. To top it off, since I was looking for a Martin, the Highlands guitar tech who was working on my strat HIGHLY recommended Taylor because, relative to Martin and Gibson, he so seldomly sees them in for repair or set-up. Thank you Antonni! And a big shout out to Ryan and the rest of the staff for keeping things working during these surreal days we are in.

Beautifully crafted guitar. The rosewood back and sides coupled with Taylor’s innovative V bracing lends sustain and a broad tonal range, similar in some respects to mahogany, but a little brighter. The V bracing also improves intonation. Great feeling neck, very playable through the length of the fretboard. Punches way above it’s weight in this price range.

Stood out in a room full of giants. Played the Martins, Larrivees, Gibsons and Taylors. The 414ce sang out cleanly with no mulling together of the sound. Instantly fell in love and decided to bring it home. Definitely a keeper

Pure craftsmanship. Each string has a tonal quality unmatched by most high grade guitars. Iv*e played a few gigs ( 32 yrs. ) with a stable of acoustic guitars, and with this 414 ce se becomes a definite keeper.

Was looking at buying a Gibson Singer-songwriter (looking for Rosewood back/sides) and went through ~5 guitars. Looked at Martins as well. Found a stand-out Gibson singer-songwriter and because of the money involved said I should look at Taylor's in the same price ranged. Looked a some over $1,000 more in price and this one called to me. It was a stand-out compared to the Gibson standout. They only had this one special edition so I can't say if its the model or this specific guitar. It sounds better than my 2015 314ce which is one of the best 314's I've ever heard. Looking forward to how the 414's sound will warm over time - it will be incredible!!!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
