Shaun Weima moved to the Comox Valley in 2019 from Kingston, Ontario. He has been teaching music since 2003 at various schools in the area. He has performed, toured and produced with a number of Kingston bands, including Ianspotting, The Swampward Orchestra, and Hoppipolla. Shaun specializes in guitar, ukulele, mandolin, beginner piano and voice. His rate is $32 per half hour.

Skip played in rock and blues bands before getting into traditional music. He was a member of the house band on the iconic Up Home Tonight show on ATV. He's performed with The Ladies Choice Bluegrass Band, The Gordon Stobbe Trio, and The Richard Wood Band, and has toured and recorded with a wide range of musicians such as Graham and Eleanor Townsend, Calvin Vollrath, and Peter Dawson. Skip has transcribed a number of books of fiddle tunes for Mel Bay and has been teaching for over 35 years. His rate per 30-minute private lesson is $29.

STEVE SUTTON, (B.A., Dip. Mus.) is a Vancouver Island based, Professional Bassist and Guitar Teacher who has performed locally, in Vancouver and in California. Steve was born and raised in Nanaimo and began his musical journey in the School District 68 music program playing the trombone and the classical guitar. Later, Steve attended Malaspina University College's Music Program, (now Vancouver Island University), focusing on bass guitar and double bass. He graduated in 2002.
During the summer of 2003 he attended the Victoria Conservatory summer jazz workshop where he studied with jazz greats Neil Swainson, Misha Piatogorsky and Don Thompson. In September 2010 he attended a Ukulele workshop in Sonoma California, training with Hawaiian Ukulele Master Kimo Hussey.
Steve teaches guitar, bass guitar, double bass, ukulele and trombone at our Langford location.
Steve's rate is $32 per lesson.

Steven Antonio Dorscher is an in-demand artist, session player and educator based in Calgary. He has performed and competed across Canada and the United States as a solo artist, and with various musical groups and bands after completing his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Calgary. Steven currently serves lead guitar duties for Cabrakaän, and Matt & Steve. With over 10 years teaching experience including emphasis on technique and theory, Steven knows what the beginning musician needs, and can provide sound advice and help for the intermediate and advanced players. He also offers RCM exam prep, College / University Prep, and Music Theory instruction. Steven has been offering lessons in Calgary at L&M since 2013. His rate is $35 per half hour.

Suneal Pal graduated from Wilfred Laurier University with an Honors B.A. in Guitar Performance. He achieved first class honors in grade nine R.C.M. Since graduation, he has performed widely to rave reviews, recorded several CDs, and taught students of all ages and abilities. Suneal plays Acoustic, Classical, Electric, Rock, and Finger-style guitar and is also well-versed in Flamenco, Latin, and Jazz rhythms.

Tyler is an experienced multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator based in Edmonton. With a decade of experience, Tyler has toured across Canada, performing more than 100 shows as a drummer, guitarist, and vocalist in rock, metal, and pop-adjacent genres. He holds a Diploma in Music Performance from MacEwan University and has furthered his training through private lessons in guitar, drums, and piano, as well as courses like Pickup Music.
Tyler tailors lessons to each student’s unique interests while building a solid foundation, and fostering growth in technique, creativity, and confidence. He values collaboration as a key tool for musical growth, incorporating playing together and improvisation into lessons. Drawing on techniques inspired by the Alexander Method and Kenny Werner’s Effortless Mastery, he emphasizes natural, efficient movement behind the instrument. Tyson Pilling has been teaching private music lessons for four years. Tyson is in his third year in the music program at MacEwan University with plans to later attend the UofA to obtain an Education Degree. Tyson has been playing guitar and bass since a young age. He has experience playing in a variety of styles such as acoustic finger picking, electric guitar, jazz, alternative, country and pop. Tyson has live music experience playing in jazz bands, pit bands, percussion ensembles, party bands and concert band ensembles. Tyson enjoys teaching all skill levels and ages of students and works to encourage them to achieve and surpass their goals.

Victor Hugo Lopez Bustamante has been performing for audiences on the Winnipeg live music scene for well over two decades. His skill-sets as a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and band-leader keep him busy throughout the year as a free-lance musician in many of Winnipeg’s most notable music groups. His work as a side-man includes groups such Papa Mambo, Dr. Henry Band, Trio Bembe, the Chuck Copenace group. Victor’s ability and fluidity to authentically blend his guitar skills into various genres can be attributed to his training in through his Bachelor of Jazz Degree at University of Manitoba as well as his own personal studies abroad in Cuba, Argentina & Chile. His musical DNA reflects both his Canadian and Latin-American upbringing, and spans the genres of Cuban music, Jazz, hip=Hop, R&B, Latin-American Folklore, Tango and more from all over the world. Whether leading his own groups (Meta-Clave, The Subversives), or lending his talents to various musical projects in Winnipeg and abroad, his musicianship, joy and expression shine through.

Yanick earned his Masters degree at Université de Montréal in 2008 specializing in classical guitar. He has been teaching music since 2006 and has always had a great passion for musical education. Yanick has played guitar since the age of 11 and hasn't stopped learning and playing since. His style of music is very global and he is comfortable teaching most music styles. In the classical music category, so far, nine gold medals from the Royal Conservatory of Music have been earned under his guidance. He also got Platinum in Moncton Community Votes 2022 for the Music Lessons category, and “Silver” in the 2023 votes for the Youth Music Lessons category. Yanick will be happy to teach you how to play guitar, bass or ukulele. His rate is $27 per half-hour private lesson.
