A seasoned accordionist with an unusual style, Guib is an artist of a thousand and one colors. A musician seasoned by years of travel, where he earned his bread in exchange for a few rhymes, this globetrotter draws his greatest experience from hundreds of sidewalk concerts given in the four corners of the world. A self-taught musician, he soaks up everything he hears on his adventures: tango, valse musette, gypsy music, ragtime, rap musette, you name it. After the pandemic, the artist returned, left the city and settled in the countryside near Montmagny. He continues to perform for various theater companies and circus troupes in Quebec City. In addition to his musical talents, he is also a juggler, clown, stilt-walker and unicyclist.

Guy began his musical life in South Africa age 8. He studied music at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and released his debut solo album in 2009. He appeared in Guitar Player magazine and headlined Evolution Rock’s Masters of Shred. His music has featured in dozens of commercial videos. He is heavily involved in the Calgary music scene and has toured southern Alberta and B.C. Guy has vast experience teaching adults and children, giving more than 7000 lessons over the last 9 years. Specializing in technique and theory for rock, pop, metal, blues and country. Guy offers lessons in Calgary at the East store and his rate is $30 per half hour.

Hilandi du Toit is a professional musician and music teacher who relocated from South Africa in 2022. She has vast experience in music composition, arrangement and performance. She is an established singer/songwriter and guitarist (rhythm acoustic, bass) djembe, cajon and ukulele player. She is an inspirational and committed teacher who focuses on an individualized curriculum to accommodate all levels of competency.

Originaire de France, Hugo Benoit Roche découvre la guitare classique à l'âge de 7 ans. Durant son parcours, il se tourne également vers la guitare électrique, la guitare basse, le ukulélé et le chant.
Il poursuit ses études au Cégep de Saint-Foy, où il obtient un Diplôme d'études collégiales en musique avec une spécialisation en guitare classique. Par la suite, il complète un Baccalauréat en enseignement de la musique à l’Université Laval, où il étudie également la guitare jazz.
Depuis 2022, Hugo est très actif sur la scène musicale québécoise. Avec plus de 250 concerts à son actif, il participe à plusieurs projets musicaux, tels que le duo Hugo&Lou et le Trio Écho.
Passionné par la production et la composition, Hugo a publié le single « Brume » en juin 2023. Il a également composé, produit et interprété plus de 300 vidéos musicales diffusées sur diverses plateformes, telles que Facebook, Instagram, TikTok et YouTube.
Avant de rejoindre Long & McQuade, Hugo a été professeur de guitare pendant 6 ans à l’École de musique Chaudière-Appalaches. Son parcours diversifié et son expertise font de lui un enseignant dévoué et prêt à partager ses connaissances et son amour de la musique avec ses élèves.

Ian Macintyre has been a fixture on the local music scene for the past 25 years. During that timespan, he has played with acts such as RG Schaller, The Red Shed, and Rock Ryder in venues ranging from small clubs to more prestigious venues such as Centre 200 and the Savoy Theatre. A 2003 graduate of the Jazz Diploma Program at St. F.X. University, Ian has been teaching drums privately since 2010. His rate for a private half-hour lesson is $25.00.

Ivan attended Vladimir Dordevic Primary School of Music and the Borislav Stankovic Secondary School of Music in his native Belgrade. As a young adult, he moved to Kitchener, Ontario where he continued to study violin under the tutelage of Eduard Minevich, concertmaster of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra. In addition to ongoing musical studies, Ivan completed a Masters of Arts Degree in History from Queen’s University in 2001. Ivan has been teaching at our location since 2009.

Iya Casuga graduated with distinction from MacEwan University with a Minor in Education and is a former Long & McQuade student. She is currently doing her after degree in University of Alberta majoring in secondary music education. She has been playing for over ten years and started as a clinician in 2019 teaching several junior high and high school students. She has also played in several ensembles, such as the Dirt City Samba Squad and Honouring Hymn Worship Band. She has trained in various styles, and her teaching focuses on technique, rudiments, music notation, and groove. Iya welcomes students of all ages and skill levels.

Jack Dublanica has a BA in Theory and Music History and has been playing the banjo and fiddle for over 30 years. He started teaching in 1995 and has experience teaching all ages of students in both private and group lessons. Jack has played with bluegrass/folk and bluegrass/country bands, including Home Brood, Citybilly, and Cactus Jack and the Rounders. He has performed at the Regina Folk Festival and The Big Valley Jamboree. He is currently a member of Binder Twine and the Bales. Ms. Wan is an accomplished pianist who began her music studies from Douglas College (BC), then completed her B.Mus in Music Education with a minor in Linguistics from University of Toronto. She studied piano under the tutelage of Dr. Barry Barrington, Dr. Leslie Kinton, and Mr. Boris Zarankin. After attaining intermediate performance knowledge of multiple orchestral instruments, she pursued short-term studies in the George Hurst Conducting Course at the Canford School of Music (now Sherborne School of Music) in Dorset UK. Additionally, she participated in the Saarburg International Music Festival in Saarburg, Germany studying chamber music with musicians from around the globe. Ms. Wan also volunteered as the assistant conductor with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets of the 800 Black Forest Squadron. With many years of Teaching experience behind her and various awards and certifications such as RCM Advanced Specialist in both Piano and Theory , she continues, as she has done for over 26 years, to regularly prepare her students for recitals, competitions, and the Royal Conservatory of Music examinations. She’s also a singer/songwriter for the past few years and came out with her first EP Takes a Little Thought. She loves teaching the ukulele and wants to inspire others to enjoy the instrument too.

Jake est un auteur-compositeur-interprète, multi-instrumentiste, réalisateur et mixeur de la Capitale-Nationale. Il commence son parcours musical à l’âge de 7 ans à la batterie, instrument qui l’amènera à jouer dans l’harmonie de son école secondaire ainsi que pour des concours comme Secondaire en spectacle. À l’adolescence, il se lance dans l’apprentissage autodidacte du piano pour y jouer des reprises de groupes tels Coldplay et pour y apprendre le blues. C’est à l’âge de 14 ans qu’il se procure sa première guitare et qu'il décide de faire carrière dans le domaine de la musique. D'abord inspiré par des artistes québécois, il commence en jouant des reprises allant de Jean Leloup à Offenbach pour ensuite se diriger vers Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B King, Nirvana et bien d’autres artistes qui ont marqué l’histoire de la musique. Il décide par la suite de se lancer dans la composition de ses propres chansons.
En 2018, il entame une nouvelle aventure lorsqu’il est sélectionné pour l’École nationale de la chanson, la seule école pour auteurs-compositeurs-interprètes de la francophonie. Cette année à Granby lui permet de parfaire ses compétences comme compositeur et comme guitariste. En 2022, il fonde son projet Ta Rouge Essence et sort son premier album en carrière, Aphrodite, de manière indépendante et sur lequel il joue tous les instruments. En 2023, il déménage à Québec pour étudier en Enregistrement et Sonorisation au Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy, pour approfondir ses connaissances en production en studio, en mixage et matriçage. Au niveau de la réalisation, vous pouvez l’entendre sur des projets comme Arnaud Emar ou Midtown Avenue!
Sur une note plus personnelle, Jake est une personne très calme, possédant une excellente écoute. Il est toujours prêt à transmettre sa passion pour la guitare et pour la production musicale à quiconque souhaitant se lancer dans cette belle aventure!
