From an early age, Daven has had a real passion for music, which led him to focus his studies in this field. He studied at the Cégep de Trois-Rivières, specializing in pop-jazz guitar. Throughout his musical education, he acquired techniques enabling him to share his knowledge through teaching.
Daven has participated in various shows and has been teaching music since 2017 to people of all ages and styles.
His goal as a music teacher is to accompany each of his students so that they evolve at their own pace and develop their full potential.

His dual diploma education, extensive experience in live and studio band performance and his multi-instrumental approach to instruction led him to establish the Rock Skool summer camps in 2005 and the 10-month Rock Skool program in 2010. David inspires his students to put their musical aspirations into action by providing a fun and invested mentorship tailored to each student's individual goals.

Dillon Newell holds an advanced diploma in Music Performance from Cambrian College. He has been teaching students of all ages and abilities about rudiments, reading notation and improvisationsince 2017. Dillon has performed throughout Windsor and Essex County in a variety of Rock, Blues, Country, R&B, and Pop bands. His lesson rate is $27/half hour private lesson.

Ed Young has been a professional musician since 1979 and has been teaching percussion and guitar since 1984. He attended the University of Western Ontario, where he studied percussion with Bob Hughes. Ed is now playing all over Prince Edward Island with Phase 2 and the John Cain Duo as well as the Dennis Dunn Band. Ed has recorded over 30 albums with artists such as: Kelly Brock, Rusty McCarthy, Frank Deresti, and many others. Ed has performed coast to coast and all over the USA with artists such as: Bobby Taylor, Steve Strongman, Nigel Mack, Dawn Tyler Watson, and Rusty McCarthy. Finally, Ed is a published songwriter who had his songs recorded and featured on TV shows such as “Dawson’s Creek”, “The Surreal Gourmet”, and “From Spain With Love”. Ed's rate for a half hour private lesson is $26.

Eric is an experienced teacher and multi-instrumentalist who began music training at age 5 and began winning competitions at age 6. He has been involved with many groups that have received radio play, and has performed in other countries and large venues throughout Canada. His experience also includes studio recording and composing. Eric's years of teaching have enabled him to adapt to each individual and assist students in the way best suited to them, whether it's leisurely learning favorite songs or more intense personal skill development. Eric teaches at our Winnipeg (Pembina) lesson centre.

Ian Macintyre has been a fixture on the local music scene for the past 25 years. During that timespan, he has played with acts such as RG Schaller, The Red Shed, and Rock Ryder in venues ranging from small clubs to more prestigious venues such as Centre 200 and the Savoy Theatre. A 2003 graduate of the Jazz Diploma Program at St. F.X. University, Ian has been teaching drums privately since 2010. His rate for a private half-hour lesson is $25.00.

Iya Casuga graduated with distinction from MacEwan University with a Minor in Education and is a former Long & McQuade student. She is currently doing her after degree in University of Alberta majoring in secondary music education. She has been playing for over ten years and started as a clinician in 2019 teaching several junior high and high school students. She has also played in several ensembles, such as the Dirt City Samba Squad and Honouring Hymn Worship Band. She has trained in various styles, and her teaching focuses on technique, rudiments, music notation, and groove. Iya welcomes students of all ages and skill levels.

Jaime Carrasco (Drums) Registration Request

Jaime Carrasco is a drummer/percussionist/educator, born in Chile, and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Jaime has been drumming since 1985 and has been teaching since 2005 (has been teaching at Long & McQuade since 2010). Jaime has a College Jazz Diploma from Malaspina University-College (now Vancouver Island University) in Nanaimo, BC (1999), and a BFA w/ Honours in Music (major in Jazz Drums, minor in Carnatic (South Indian) classical percussion) from York University in Toronto, Ontario (2002). Jaime has studied with Barry Elmes, Trichy Sankaran, Jim Blackely, Clarence Penn, Alvin Atkinson, John Riley, Eric McPherson, and Quincy Davis.
Aside from freelance work, Jaime is currently involved with several projects, including: Slow Train Home (country); The Leftists (power pop), follow-up album to debut (Demonstrate) will release soon; Claire Therese & The Lockdown (debut album, Villainy was released earlier in 2022, while the follow-up album has just been recorded in 2025) IJG (Impressions Jazz Group), and The Adventures (surf-rock). Jaime welcomes beginners to advanced students of all styles.

Jamie Moran has been a performer and educator in various music circles since 2014. A graduate of the MUN School of Music, he has performed with many ensembles including the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and Scruncheons Percussion Ensemble among others. Jamie is also the percussionist for Cabot Power, and performs with other local artists including The Celtic Fiddlers. Besides percussion, Jamie plays many different instruments including guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, bodhran, banjo, drums, and he also sings. Jamie has traveled the province multiple times performing and leading workshops in various capacities. As an educator, Jamie is both a private and substitute music teacher. As an advocate for music, he is a board member with both the Newfoundland and Labrador Band Association and the CFM Local 820. His rate is $28 per half hour lesson.

John is a graduate of the NSCC Music Arts program with extensive experience playing and performing in a wide variety of genres. From the age of 12 he was drumming in bands in the local all-ages alternative music scene, and simultaneously became involved in the Los Primos Program, performing in youth latin jazz combos around Halifax. Since graduating he has been splitting his time between teaching, touring, recording, and performing with diverse acts such as Loveland, Harley Alexander, New Love Underground, and many more. Jon Guenter is a freelance musician based in the city of Edmonton. He’s a recent graduate of MacEwan University’s Bachelor of Music program, majoring in Drum Set Performance, where he spent the majority of his studies focusing on improvisation. Throughout his studies, Jon has taken the role of bandleader, and has played in a variety of styles, from rock to pop. While Jon’s focus lies in the genre of jazz, he is well-versed in many different styles, and has a passion for teaching music to students of all ages and abilities. Jon is a firm believer in examining the aspects of music from a variety of different angles, and believes this process is essential in the development of any musician. Jon has invested his time into understanding not only the theory that surrounds drums, but music theory as a whole. By learning music through mediums like theory, technique, listening, and instrument application, this provides students with the tools to both learn and understand music, allowing them a creative outlet that will translate into other areas of life. Jon’s passion for learning is equally matched by his passion for teaching and it is the experience of growth and knowledge that makes teaching such a positive experience for both Jon and his students. Jon Holisko is a professional drummer and drum teacher who has toured Europe, China, the Caribbean and North America with multiple bands. He studied Jazz music at Capilano University and holds a Bachelor of Jazz Performance on percussion. Jon plays regularly with singer songwriter Krystle Dos Santos, reggae cover band Mostly Marley, top 40s cover band TriloJay, and does session work with dozens of local and international artists. Jon has studied with a long list of music educators over the years and has a broad range of knowledge in many different styles of music including reggae, funk, jazz, hip hop, latin, afro cuban, rock, metal, r&b, electronic and world music. Jon also works in tv/film and most recently recorded a song for an ABC Television show titled When We Rise, and makes appearances on drums on the Netflix series Riverdale, and Legends of Tomorrow. Jonah Landry (he/him) has been involved in and has shown his passion for the local music scene ever since he can remember. Whether it’s playing rock/folk drums in John Jerome and the Congregation (Moncton) or fast double bass techniques in Necrohol (Halifax), he has the tools to teach many genres across the board such as pop, rock, folk, metal, and introductory blues and jazz. Kevin emphasizes musicality from the very first lesson with every student. He has a unique and customized approach to teaching that resonates with students of all ages. Kevin graduated from the music program at Mohawk College with honours and has since studied with some of Canada’s most renowned teachers. Kevin has also published several textbooks, articles and other educational resources on drumming. His performance experience spans over 20 years in many styles of music ranging from Rock, Pop and Hip Hop to Folk, Jazz, Blues and Latin music, on stages across North and South America. Born into a family of musicians, Kieran has been surrounded by music his entire life. When it came time to make the "career choice," there really wasn't any other option. Kieran graduated in 2020 from Brandon University with a Bachelor's of Music Degree in Jazz Performance (drum set) with distinction, and as member of the Dean's list. Through his four years at BU, he had the opportunity to learn from and work with some brilliant musical minds, and through those experiences gained invaluable knowledge about the language of music and what it really means to play music with other people - along with everything else that comes with a music degree. Kieran has been a private drum set instructor and clinician for the last 7 years and has worked with students of all ages and skill levels. His goal as an instructor is to encourage musical growth while maintaining the impetus of why we play music in the first place - music is fun and it can take us to a place that nothing else does.
Kieran teaches at both our Henderson and Pembina locations, and his lesson rate is $29/half hour.

Après avoir exploré différents styles tels que le heavy metal, le rock progressif, il commence à étudier la percussion classique sous la tutelle du renommé René Joly. Après son double DEC en musique et en sciences de la nature, il complète son baccalauréat en interprétation jazz à l'Université Laval sous la supervision de René Roulx, un batteur célèbre au Québec.
En 2023, il complète une maitrise en interprétation et composition de jazz à l'école de musique Schulich de McGill. Non seulement Loïc a enseigné dans différentes écoles telles que Accroche Notes de Lévis, l'école de musique Desjardins et le collège Champigny, mais il a été plus actif sur la scène musicale québécoise, dans laquelle il se produit dans plusieurs formations de jazz ainsi qu'avec des groupes de “covers” de grands circuits.

After his double DEC in music and natural sciences, he completes his bachelor's degree in jazz interpretation at Laval University under the supervision of René Roulx, a famous drummer in Quebec.
In 2023, he earned a Master’s degree in jazz performance and composition at the Schulich School of Music at McGill. Not only has Loïc taught in different schools such as Accroche Notes de Lévis, the Desjardins School of Music and Champigny College, but he has been more active on the Quebec music scene, performing in several jazz bands as well as with cover bands of major circuits.
