Jimmy began playing guitar at around 12 years old and has been immersed in music ever since. Growing up in a musical family, he learned by watching and playing alongside relatives, which helped him develop a strong foundation and a deep love for music. Over time, his curiosity and dedication led him to explore a wide range of stringed instruments, expanding both his skills and his musical reach.
A passionate performer, Jimmy is well known in the Hastings and Quinte regions as one half of the popular local duo The Rodgers Boys. He also showcases his talent as the lead guitarist for the rock band Beyond the Call, gaining valuable live performance experience that he brings into his teaching.
Jimmy’s approach to instruction is flexible and student-centered. He tailors each lesson to the individual, regardless of age, level, or musical background. His teaching is not limited to any one genre—instead, he focuses on helping students reach their goals, whether that means understanding complex music theory or simply learning to play their favorite chords.
“Meeting people at their level is my main focus in teaching,” Jimmy says, and that commitment is reflected in every lesson he gives.

Joelle Nielsen started playing the clarinet 20 years ago, achieving her B.Mus in performance from Brandon University in 2014. During that time she has played with National youth band, pit ensembles for musical theatre productions, and as part of small ensembles that performed with the WSO’s pre-concert series and at ICA’s Clarinet Festival, as well as competing Nationally as part of a chamber group. Joelle has been teaching woodwind clinics in Manitoba and Saskatchewan since 2009, and started teaching privately in Northeast Saskatchewan in 2018. Joelle teaches woodwinds at the Regina store. John is a graduate of the NSCC Music Arts program with extensive experience playing and performing in a wide variety of genres. From the age of 12 he was drumming in bands in the local all-ages alternative music scene, and simultaneously became involved in the Los Primos Program, performing in youth latin jazz combos around Halifax. Since graduating he has been splitting his time between teaching, touring, recording, and performing with diverse acts such as Loveland, Harley Alexander, New Love Underground, and many more. John continues to immerse himself in new concepts, styles, and musical environments. His rate is $29.00 for a private half hour lesson.

John has a Bachelors in Music in Voice from Mount Allison University and grade 8 Royal Conservatory of Music piano. John originally entered university on trombone but switched to voice after two years. He has sung both solo and chorally with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, the Elora Festival Singers, Nathaniel Dett Chorale, Mississauga Choral Society, and the Toronto Jewish Folk Choir among others, and he took on the lead role of Pierre Elliott Trudeau in Vocalypse Productions’ presentation of G. E. Clarke and D.D. Jackson’s opera Trudeau: Long March/Shining Path. John has produced a CD of his own pop/adult compositions called ‘A Labour of Love’. He has been teaching music since 1994 and his rate for a half-hour private lesson is $30.

Jon Guenter is a freelance musician based in the city of Edmonton. He’s a recent graduate of MacEwan University’s Bachelor of Music program, majoring in Drum Set Performance, where he spent the majority of his studies focusing on improvisation. Throughout his studies, Jon has taken the role of bandleader, and has played in a variety of styles, from rock to pop. While Jon’s focus lies in the genre of jazz, he is well-versed in many different styles, and has a passion for teaching music to students of all ages and abilities. Jon is a firm believer in examining the aspects of music from a variety of different angles, and believes this process is essential in the development of any musician. Jon has invested his time into understanding not only the theory that surrounds drums, but music theory as a whole. By learning music through mediums like theory, technique, listening, and instrument application, this provides students with the tools to both learn and understand music, allowing them a creative outlet that will translate into other areas of life. Jon Holisko is a professional drummer and drum teacher who has toured Europe, China, the Caribbean and North America with multiple bands. He studied Jazz music at Capilano University and holds a Bachelor of Jazz Performance on percussion. Jon plays regularly with singer songwriter Krystle Dos Santos, reggae cover band Mostly Marley, top 40s cover band TriloJay, and does session work with dozens of local and international artists. Jon has studied with a long list of music educators over the years and has a broad range of knowledge in many different styles of music including reggae, funk, jazz, hip hop, latin, afro cuban, rock, metal, r&b, electronic and world music. Jon also works in tv/film and most recently recorded a song for an ABC Television show titled When We Rise, and makes appearances on drums on the Netflix series Riverdale, and Legends of Tomorrow. Jonah Landry (he/him) has been involved in and has shown his passion for the local music scene ever since he can remember. Whether it’s playing rock/folk drums in John Jerome and the Congregation (Moncton) or fast double bass techniques in Necrohol (Halifax), he has the tools to teach many genres across the board such as pop, rock, folk, metal, and introductory blues and jazz. When he’s not teaching or playing locally, you can find him working on local music videos (nominated for 4 MusicNB Video of the Year Awards) and working behind his camera! Jordan Ast is a graduate from Grant MacEwan’s Jazz and Contemporary Music Program, with a diploma in Recording Arts, principal instrument being Guitar. Jordan began teaching guitar in 2011 at Music In The House in Regina, Saskatchewan, and has continued his teaching since moving to Edmonton in 2013. He has knowledge in many guitar styles, and experience teaching all skill levels. Overall Jordan has been playing music in one form or another for nearly 22 years, and can be found playing in and around Edmonton with Dream Pop band The Eclipse, Country band Twig, and Pop/Rock band The Nico Tobias Band. Jordan began his cello training at Cambrian College under the guidance of former NBSO conductor Dr. Metro Kozak. He attended the University of Ottawa music program where he studied with National Arts Centre Orchestra principal cellist Amanda Forsyth and NACO cellist Margaret Munro-Tobolowska. He has done numerous performances in Ottawa both in and outside of the University in addition to teaching stringed instruments, including his first instrument, the guitar. Professor José Jaime Cervantes Madrigal has more than 30 years of experience teaching. He began studying violin at the Conservatorio Nacional in Mexico.
Ever since, Jaime's passion for this instrument led him to take part in many national and international orchestras. This allowed professor Cervantes to expand his professional career, wich granted him the opportunity to play in several places across the world like South America, Europe, United States and Canada. He completed his studies in Montréal where he obtained a bachelor's degree at the University of Montréal and followed later on to acquire a Master's degree in advanced Jazz at Concordia University. This empowered Mr. Cervantes to direct his own original orchestra in Mexico called String pops Orchestra, which was mainly composed of high level and professional musicians.

Joseph began playing the piano at the early age of five, and even then showed encouraging signs of his burgeoning talent and musicality. He performed locally in Prince Edward County as an accompanist in various church and choral settings, which sparked his avid love for music all of kinds. Having completed the RCM piano examinations in his teenaged years, while consistently achieving first-class distinction honour marks, Joseph chose to pursue music at the post-secondary level under the tutelage of renowned Canadian pianist David Jalbert at the University of Ottawa. In addition to teaching privately, Joseph regularly performs in the Ottawa area.

Joshua holds an RCM level 8 in piano, was a past Gold Medal recipient (highest mark in the province), and continues to expand on his practical and theoretical knowledge. Julia grew up with music all around her. She began musical ear training at six months old and completed Suzuki Music as a child. Throughout her youth, she would pick up several more instruments, learning to sing and finding her voice alongside her love and a lifelong passion for the whimsical world of music.
Julia completed the Piano Suzuki program and her RCM 10, and ARCT by the time she was 18. She pursued other interests and graduated with a Psychology Degree from The Kings University in 2018, but ultimately returned to music and completed the Piano Performance program at Juilliard in 2020. Julia loves teaching all ages and a variety of instruments. She takes pride in helping students build a solid musical foundation. She loves how music can inspire and support individual expression. Instruction in music production and music play adds to her skill set. Julia strives to connect with every type of student and guide students to their goals and beyond. Julien's passion for music began when he was very young, playing the piano on his father's knee. A few years later, for his 7th birthday, he was given his very first guitar, and since then the passion has never left him. Following private lessons and his first shows at the age of 8, Julien decided to pursue his academic career in music at his secondary school and later in jazz-pop guitar at the Cégep de Lanaudière in Joliette. With a wide range of inspirations, from the jazz fusion of Allan Holdsworth, to the dream pop of Montreal band Men I Trust, to the complexity of extreme metal pioneers Meshuggah, he was automatically led to contribute to bands and projects as varied as those that inspired him.
Julien is a great believer in regular practice of both technique and theory to achieve total freedom of expression with his instrument. A little patience, a little determination and a lot of passion will lead you throughout your life to the pleasure and love of music.

La musique a toujours occupé une place importante dans la vie de Justin. Originaire de la ville de Québec, il commence à prendre des cours de guitare à l’âge de 11 ans. Sa passion pour l’apprentissage de l’instrument se développe rapidement, et sa curiosité le pousse à s’intéresser à plusieurs styles et artistes différents. Lors de ses années au secondaire, il va même jusqu’à composer un album dans le cadre d’un projet scolaire. C’est durant cette période qu’il décide de poursuivre ses études en musique au cégep.
Justin est admis dans le programme de guitare jazz au cégep de Sainte-Foy en 2020 puis obtient son diplôme en 2022. Au cours de cette même année, il entâme ses études à l’Université Laval dans le programme d’interprétation où il y termine actuellement son baccalauréat. C’est durant cette même période qu’il commence à enseigner la guitare : occupation pour laquelle il prend rapidement goût.
Justin est présentement actif comme musicien professionnel pour plusieurs types d’événements dans la ville de Québec. Il est l’un des fondateurs de l’ensemble The Arcade Jukebox, quatuor jazz de la Ville de Québec ayant pour mission d'arranger et d'interpréter de la musique de jeux vidéos.
Dans son approche pédagogique, Justin place l’intérêt de l’élève au premier plan. Tout en respectant le rythme d’apprentissage de chacun, il sait proposer des défis permettant à quiconque de progresser. Au fil de son parcours musical, Justin est devenu un musicien versatile prêt à enseigner à n’importe quel élève, peu importe son niveau ou ses objectifs.

Since graduating from Humber College in 2014, Justin has been very active in the Toronto music scene. He has played styles ranging from Jazz and Classical to Pop, Rock, Soul, R&B, Salsa, Mariachi, and others. He has performed as a regular member of groups varying in size from Brass Quintets to Jazz Orchestras. As a teacher, Justin has taught private brass and woodwind lessons and is also the conductor of the Etobicoke Jazz Band, a 22-piece swing band comprised of high school and university students.
