Following private lessons and his first shows at the age of 8, Julien decided to pursue his academic career in music at his secondary school and later in jazz-pop guitar at the Cégep de Lanaudière in Joliette. With a wide range of inspirations, from the jazz fusion of Allan Holdsworth, to the dream pop of Montreal band Men I Trust, to the complexity of extreme metal pioneers Meshuggah, he was automatically led to contribute to bands and projects as varied as those that inspired him.
