Nate is an active member of the Ottawa music scene with over a decade of experience performing in multiple genres. He plays regularly as a session musician, with his progressive metal group The Aphelion as well as in Blues Rock band Crunchy Flower.
As a teacher, he places a strong emphasis on technique and establishing a foundation from which students can grow and feel comfortable in numerous musical situations. Nate strives to instill in his students the same passion he has for playing, with personalized lessons tailored to how an individual student learns, practical advice from his own playing history, and dedicated instruction.

Neil has performed and taught throughout Western Canada and Internationally both as a pianist and a percussionist. Currently, Neil composes and arranges for his own Jazz Quartet, The Neil Gray Quartet, and teaches both privately and in the public education system. His rate is $28 per half hour.

Nelson Collins - Lee (Drums) Registration Request

Nelson Collins-Lee is a Canadian drummer, based in Edmonton, Alberta. He plays an eclectic variety of styles (jazz, rock, metal, afro-Caribbean etc.) and has a detailed yet relaxed and student orientated approach to teaching. After completing his diploma in drum set performance at MacEwan University and spending an additional year of jazz studies at the University of North Texas, he has spent the past five years teaching private lessons, performing with bands and continuing to learn. Currently he plays with the bands Red Litmus, All Else Fails, Morewine, Pike and the 21st Agenda. Nelson also takes on various freelance gigs and recording sessions and made his musical theatre debut in the fall of 2016 when he played WS “Fluke” Holland in the Citadel Theatre’s production of the Million Dollar Quartet. Nelson offers lessons at our Edmonton Mayfield location. His rate is $28 per half hour.

Nhat-Viet (Toto) Phi began playing solo piano at age six, and has enjoyed a long history of success in Canadian music festivals starting even before his national first prize at age eleven. In addition to headlining with several Canadian orchestras and chamber music with his brothers, he has been praised for his wide-ranging collaborative talents across the nation in vocal, choral, string, woodwind, brass and percussion disciplines. From 2007-2019, Toto was the official accompanist for the University of Moncton music department. Since 1990, Mr. Phi has enjoyed teaching piano privately for all ages and all levels including ARCT, in English and French.

Nicholas received a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Jazz Studies, First Class Honours) from St. Francis Xavier University. He has studied privately with internationally renowned jazz musicians Howard Alden, Oz Noy, Wayne Krantz, Jerry Granelli and Ari Hoenig. Nick has toured across Canada and internationally and is active in the local music scene, playing with Juno-nominee Kim Barlow, ECMA-nominee Alana Yorke, award-winning songwriter Carmel Mikol to name a few. A multi-instrumentalist, Nick started making music on the drums at the age of 8 years old, eventually picking up the guitar and began learning finger picking and classical. By age of 14, Nick landed his first gig and by 19 was playing gigs across NB, as well as teaching full time. In 2012 Nick met, was mentored, and managed by CCMA award winning guitarist and co-founder of Tom Cochrane & Red Rider Kenny Greer. In 2014, Nick recorded Tom Cochranes' new album “Take it Home” and the following year set out on a Canadian wide tour with them. Nic Ladouceur has been an active musician for nearly 20 years throughout the North American and European music scene. Originally captivated by bands like Led Zeppelin, Cream and Black Sabbath, his interests grew into academic pursuit and he graduated from Humber's jazz music program. Nic then went on to be an active touring musician, playing an average of 100 shows per year over North America and Western Europe for many years, often sharing festivals with his modern musical heroes like DragonForce, Band Of Skulls, The Sonics and more. When not on the road, Nic has been an active teacher for nearly 20 years, helping students of all ages and skills develop their ability and share his enthusiasm for music. His interest in music goes beyond notes, and Nic is equally interested in instruments and electronics. His other hobbies are chess, rock climbing and motorcycle restoration.

Nima is an active performer, session player, and educator with over 10 years of professional experience; even teaching at the esteemed Hatra Music Institute in Tehran. He's had the privilege of studying under esteemed drum masters like Jojo Mayer and Jost Nickel. He is a touring drummer for many Iranian and Canadian artists and is fluent in Jazz, Rock, Pop, Metal, and Funk.

Lessons with Nima will include how to read music, play by ear and develop a strong theoretical background, while also building the confidence to be on stage and play in front of a crowd.

Nina Maxwell is a Royal Conservatory of Music Certified teacher for elementary and intermediate piano. She holds her Grade 9 Piano, and Theory and History/Harmony Grades 9 and 10 with the Royal Conservatory of Music. She continues to expand her knowledge and credentials and is currently studying for her Grade 10 Piano and Elementary Piano Pedagogy through the RCM.

Nina has over thirty years of teaching experience with students ranging from the very young to retired seniors. Her specialties include exam preparation (classical, popular, and theoretical) and helping special needs students to achieve success. Nina is listed as a recommended teacher for special needs children with the Autism Resource Centre in Regina. Over the years, many of Nina's students have received outstanding marks on examinations and music festivals, including for a recent Royal Conservatory practical examination session, several Distinction and First Class Honors results, and 2 gold medal winners for the highest mark in the province! Nina has also attended many workshops and seminars on handling stress and uses the Brain Gym techniques as additional learning tools. She is also the accompanist for the Circle of Friends Ladies Choir.

Norm has been playing guitar for 40+ years and teaching/performing for over 20 years. He co-developed the guitar teaching program at Simply Guitars in Ottawa in 2006 where he taught for almost ten years.
Utilizing the 12 bar blues styles and CAGED system have been very effective in helping students establish a technical foundation from which they can branch off into rock, pop, metal, country and jazz etc. He believes in a relaxed but structured learning environment, utilizing both theoretical and hands-on approaches, and enjoys teaching anyone from the complete novice to the seasoned player looking to expand their horizons. His personal philosophy also includes talking about the history and origins of songs, styles, performers, instruments etc.
Norm is interested in playing in many idioms; favourites include blues, slide guitar, jazz, folk, rock, world, classical--these influences can be heard in his Ottawa-based instrumental trio "Butterflies and Zebras".
