Sergio actively performs, writes and arranges music not only for himself, but also for other vocalists. Serkan is a session musician and a drum teacher in Halifax, NS. For over 25 years he has been playing and teaching percussion. He completed the Specialist Drummer Certification Program from Berklee College of Music in 2014. He has written 3 drum books which were published by Fundamental Changes, England: Rock Drumming for Beginners (2017), Drum Rudiments & Musical Application (2017) and 200 Paradiddle Exercises for Drums (2018). Over the last few years, he has been recording and performing with various artists such as Campbell & Johnston’s Band, Charlie A’court, Dan Doiron, Superfluid Collective and Tyler Mullendore. Since 2015, he has been representing Turkish Cymbals as an endorsing artist. He is offering drum lessons to students of any age and drumming experience (beginner, intermediate and advanced levels). Music is his passion, and teaching allows him to share his experience and expertise with aspiring drummers. He is $28 per half hour lesson.

Seye Popoola has been teaching piano and theory for many years. He holds theory certificates with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and is working toward advanced levels with the Royal Conservatory of Music. He is a church organist and choir director. Seye has accompanied his church choir for performances and has accompanied his choir students who have achieved excellence in their examinations and competitions. He also plays the trumpet, violin and clarinet. Seye teaches piano at the Regina store. His rate is $28 per half-hour.

Shai has taught privately since 2006 and has been performing since 1989, playing with Ronnie Hawkins, and as a member of the Weber Brothers Band. He has recorded multiple albums and performed on many cross country and international tours. Shai studied piano with Andre Burashko, Piano Pedagogy with U of T professor Marina Geringas, and continues his studies with York University Professor Frank Falco. Sharona calls herself a “classically-trained pop pianist”, possessing equal passion for classical music and a natural affinity for popular music. She is a singer-songwriter and performer, having played in bands and solo, produced albums and received nominations for music awards in her home province of Newfoundland (where she received her Bachelor of Music Education degree). She has over 30 years’ teaching experience and is RCM-certified for piano, meaning her students have produced Honors results in the leading piano exam system in Canada. Fun fact - she has composed and published twenty-five modern piano pieces which her students get to play! Her rate is $29 per half-hour lesson.

Shaun Weima moved to the Comox Valley in 2019 from Kingston, Ontario. He has been teaching music since 2003 at various schools in the area. Sherry majored in voice at Crouse College of Music at Syracuse University in New York and at the University of Manitoba School of Music and earned a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education. She taught at the St. James Assiniboia School Division at the K to Grade 6 level for many years with numerous award winning choirs at the Winnipeg Music Festival. Sherry was a broadcast music director, and on-air host for the Woodsmoke & Sweetgrass TV show from 1973-1994. She has composed and arranged many pieces for children including Skydance that debuted at the International Orff Festival. Sherry teaches at our Winnipeg (Pembina) lesson centre.

Skip played in rock and blues bands before getting into traditional music. He was a member of the house band on the iconic Up Home Tonight show on ATV. He's performed with The Ladies Choice Bluegrass Band, The Gordon Stobbe Trio, and The Richard Wood Band, and has toured and recorded with a wide range of musicians such as Graham and Eleanor Townsend, Calvin Vollrath, and Peter Dawson. Skip has transcribed a number of books of fiddle tunes for Mel Bay and has been teaching for over 35 years. His rate per 30-minute private lesson is $29.

Skylar is a Canadian soprano and music educator dedicated to sharing the joy of music with her students. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Education with a specialization in Secondary Music, both from the University of British Columbia. In recognition of her excellence in music education, she was awarded the Don Wright Scholarship in Vocal and Choral Music Education. As a performer, Skylar has appeared in opera, choral, and musical theatre productions across Canada and abroad. She has sung with the UBC Opera Ensemble, the UBC University Singers, and the Vancouver Youth Choir. Alongside her performance career, Skylar is a passionate teacher of voice, choral music, musical theatre, early music, and piano. She has taught musicians aged 3 months to 25 years in a variety of contexts, including early childhood programs that combine music, movement, and storytelling. Skylar is also trained in Orff, Kodály, Colour Strings, and Dalcroze methods, which she applies in her teaching for various age groups ranging from infants to kindergarten and primary-aged students. Mom was the master Japanese harpist, and her first violin teacher was the best student of renowned violinist (Hisako Tsuji). Spencer began studying piano at age 11 through the Royal Conservatory method. His musical journey quickly progressed before pursuing formal music studies at Western University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Philosophy.
After completing his degree, Spencer worked overseas with the Daegu Theatre Group in South Korea as a piano accompanist and musical director. Upon returning to Canada, he continued to teach privately, perform with local bands, and collaborate with theatre groups across the region.
Spencer's lessons are tailored to each student’s goals—whether that’s preparing for RCM certification, building strong technique, improving ear training, or simply enjoying the process of learning music. STEVE SUTTON, (B.A., Dip. Mus.) is a Vancouver Island based, Professional Bassist and Guitar Teacher who has performed locally, in Vancouver and in California. Steve was born and raised in Nanaimo and began his musical journey in the School District 68 music program playing the trombone and the classical guitar. Later, Steve attended Malaspina University College's Music Program, (now Vancouver Island University), focusing on bass guitar and double bass. He graduated in 2002.
During the summer of 2003 he attended the Victoria Conservatory summer jazz workshop where he studied with jazz greats Neil Swainson, Misha Piatogorsky and Don Thompson. In September 2010 he attended a Ukulele workshop in Sonoma California, training with Hawaiian Ukulele Master Kimo Hussey.

She has played in the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra and Mount Allison String Ensemble, and continues to play orchestral music with the Halifax Music Co-op. Susan enjoys playing a wide range of music, from classical to fiddle to music from movies and video games. Always on the lookout for more opportunities to play in a group, her favorite musical experience is playing in big orchestras. With experience teaching in musical and academic settings, Susan has taught all ages from young children to adults.
