Teaching Day(s): Monday, Thursday, Sunday
Suzy is a violin and viola teacher. She started her music education as a cellist at four years old, though she soon switched to the violin and spent her childhood years training with the Suzuki method and the RCM graded syllabuses. As a teenager she attended an arts High School where she got the chance to participate in Orchestra, Chamber music groups, and much more. At 16 she decided to switch to viola but continued playing violin on the side. She graduated from the University of Ottawa with an Honours Bachelor of Arts with specialization in music. This program not only allowed her do some performance classes but also gave her the ability to take classes on music education, psychology, and many more interesting subjects relating to both music and education. Additionally, it allowed her to participate in practicums where she was able to work with teachers and students at the Ottawa organization "Orkidstra". In addition to this, she is a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, having completed her program in Ballet teaching studies in 2021. The skills she learnt in this program helped her as a music teacher tremendously as she learned about child psychology, cognitive development, and teaching techniques that can be applied in any type of educational setting. She began teaching as a skating instructor in 2012, and then began teaching ballet in 2016, and began teaching music in 2020 and was able to take the skills she learned from her years teaching other activities into her career as a music teacher. She continues to teach ballet in addition to teaching violin and viola and she recently attained her Masters of Music performance at the University of Ottawa.
