Description
The Selmer Mark VI is widely considered the "holy grail" of vintage saxes. Produced by Henri Selmer Paris starting in 1954, it represents the coming of age period where Selmer perfected the formula that defined modern saxophones.
The mid-1950's saw the rapid explosion of hard bob, modal jazz, and avant-garde movements. Legends like John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, and Wayne Shorter adopted the Mark VI during this era as the new, cutting-edge tool that could keep up with their intense harmonic exploration.
This 5-digit Mark VI tenor is a non high F# version and comes with it's original case. It had been relacquered and has been recently serviced.
