Description

For saxophonists all around the world, the names SAX and SELMER are intimately linked. A shared history built upon an affiliation begun in 1929, when Henri SELMER Paris bought the Adolphe Sax Company. The production of a limited edition alto saxophone celebrates the bicentenary of the birth of this great inventor, and the 130th anniversary of Henri SELMER Paris.

This anniversary model pays particular attention to design and modern ergonomic comfort, inspired by the models that have come before: wire key guards, brace, octave key, connecting rings, pearl rollers... up to the mouthpiece, all paying homage to Adolphe Sax, but with modern advances in technology.

One major element contributing to the overall beauty and uniqueness of the Adolphe SAX is its engraving. Composed of different elements that illustrate the world of Adolphe Sax, it includes sketches of instruments from the original patent, next to a machine from the inventor's workshop; a symbol of the rise of industrialization. The presence of a parrot is evidence of Sax's little known passion for ornithology. Finally, the structure on which the engraving rests is an evocation of the Crystal Paris in London, erected in 1851 to welcome the first World's fair, during which Adolphe Sax and his inventions encountered great success.

With this instrument, Henri SELMER Paris reaffirms their mastery of traditional instrument making combined with an inventive force rooted in modernity, continuing along the path of the work of Adolphe Sax.
