Description
The CR5 produces 250 watts per channel at 4 ohms in a rugged three rack enclosure. It is quiet, fan cooled, and offers professional quality at a surprisingly affordable price. This amp is aimed at budget-conscious commercial installations where quality and reliability are paramount. It is an excellent studio reference amplifier or an inexpensive alternative choice as a rugged and reliable rental power amplifier. Due to market demand, the CR5 was designed to produce its maximum output power into a 4 ohm load. However, it will not shut down if it encounters a 2 ohm load, it will simply produce less power.
The CR5’s controls, including individual dB-calibrated channel gain controls, are rear-mounted, making them discreet and tamper-proof. Its connectors are also located on the rear panel and include touch-proof binding posts and 1/4” jack outputs. A precision-balanced 1/4” TRS/XLR combination connector and protective strip inputs are provided, along with a rear-mounted circuit breaker and a front-panel mounted mains power switch.
As with all Yorkville products, cheap does NOT mean inefficient. It’s built like a tank. The CR5 is constructed with a rugged steel chassis coated in a durable, baked-on black finish. All electronics are mounted on high-quality glass-epoxy circuit boards and include low-noise metal film resistors. To ensure trouble-free operation, all CR Series amps undergo a thorough computer-controlled, temperature-cycled burn-in period to test for deviations from design parameters.
