Ibanez JS1000 Burnt Transparent Blue is a signature guitar for Joe Satriani. Joseph Satriani is an American instrumental rock guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. Early in his career, Satriani worked as a guitar instructor. Many of his former students achieving fame, such as Steve Vai, Larry LaLonde, Rick Hunolt, Kirk Hammett, Andy Timmons, Charlie Hunter, Kevin Cadogan, and Alex Skolnick. The Ibanez JS1000 was introduced in 1994. It was a continuation of the original JS1 model and it is one of the longest running models of the JS series behind the JS100 that is still produced today. The body was made of basswood and it had, of course, DiMarzio pickups in it, a PAF Pro for the neck and a FRED for the bridge.

In it’s 19 year history, this very successful JS guitar has been released in different colors. BP “Black Pearl”, some kind of dark deep sparkle, BTB “Burnt Transparent Blue” also known as TB “Transparent Blue” in the US and of course WH “White”. All those finish colors were produced worldwide but at some point BTB was Japan/Europe exclusive and BP was USA exclusive. Outside the US, another BP colored JS was issued, the JS900. In 1998 the WH was introduced as an available finish in all areas and disappeared in 2003. Then the BTB color ended in 2009, so the last JS1000 to remain was BP and that’s how the line died out in 2013.

The bridge has been changed too. This guitar started with the Lo Pro Edge until 2003 when the Edge Pro was introduced. The WH color ended at this time, so you have no chance of finding a JS1000 WH with a Lo Pro Edge on! Then from 2010 the JS1000BP (the only JS1000 guitar still available) had the Satch favourite tremolo on it, the original Edge.
