Description
The Selmer Paris Mark VII Alto Saxophone is a beloved vintage model saxophone with a rich history and a sound that garners strong attraction from sax players of all varieties from all across the globe.
As the successor the famed Selmer Mark VI, the VII managed to carve out its own identity within the sax community while meeting the extremely high standards set by the success of the Mark VI. The Mark VII offers a bright and punchy sound, while maintaining the rich, dark core synonymous with Selmer horns. Introduced in the 1970s, the Mark VII brings a more contemporary approach to the Selmer brand. It's key layout is different from its predecessor, with a larger frame, especially on the pinky table, the VII is a more comfortable hold for most players, particularly those with larger hands.
This specific Mark VIIs serial number can be dated back to 1976 through Selmers records, putting it early on in the Mark VII run, before any design changes were made in the later 70s.
Vintage Selmer saxophones are some of the most desired saxophones and for good reason. They offer a rich sound like no other with projection and feel akin to all of the saxophone heroes from the 20th century. 50 years later, these horns continue to be one of the most sought after models ever, for good reason.
***This Mark VII is housed in a wooden hardshell case in decent condition. It does not come included with a mouthpiece or any other accessories except a basic neck strap.
