Hi! I'm Rosey the Lessons Coordinator, nice to meet you! As part of my duties here at the North Store, I'm in charge of signing students up for lessons, managing everyone's schedules, and putting on the Winter and Spring Recitals offered for free for Lesson Centre students. I sing, play piano, and recently started guitar lessons. If you're interested in lessons, feel free to reach out via phone/text at +1 (780)-732-0150, or via email at [email protected]! Nos professeurs euphonium:
A ten hour camp for young music learners which incorporates game based learning.
Rhythm and music are part of nature, we move and play to beat !
This camp will transmit rhythm rudiments using onomatopoeia, sounds made with the human body like clapping, stomping and singing as well as the use of percussion instruments like shakers, claves and hand drums.
The expected outcomes is to understand rhythms as something normal and part of a daily ordinary life and not as something foreign and only accessible through natural ability or rigorous training; after all it’s called “playing” music for a reason !
Rhythm and play, sing a tune and move your body to become music.
Facilitated by Allan Suarez, a guitarist band leader & sports coach who utilizes inclusive fun play as a conduit for learning.
Supported by Janay, multi instrumentalist and drumming professional.
Location: 13651 149th St NW in the Upstairs Lobby
Dates: Mondays, July 6th, - Friday, July 10th
Time: 10am - 12pm
Cost: $200 per student for all 5 days!
Rock band class is an exciting place where kids come together to make music as a group! Everyone gets a role, whether it’s drums, guitar, keyboard, or vocals and learns how their part fits into the bigger sound. Just like a real band, students practice listening to each other, staying on beat, and working together to learn and play songs. It’s not just about playing instruments, but about building confidence, creativity, and teamwork while having fun and sharing the experience of making music as one!
Location: 13651 149th St NW
Dates: July 29th, 31st, August 1st, 5th, 7th, 8th
*** Showcase on the evening of August 8th! ***
Time: 12.30pm - 2.30pm (More times may become available depending on level of interest!)
Cost: $270 per student
Don’t have a drum kit or want to add something new to your sound? Flip a bucket upside down and start creating your own beats! Using a pair of sticks, we’ll explore the elements of rhythm with a simple everyday object, similarly to the performers in Blue Man Group, who turn unexpected items into music. Imagine you’re in a band, playing for a crowd or jamming with friends as you groove along to songs. You can experiment with quiet and loud, fast and slow, making music that’s fun, creative, and completely your own.
Learn to play different songs using different rhythms and parts of the bucket and sticks to make diverse sounds.
Come have some fun!
