Aaron Matheson has taught private lessons for guitar and piano for 7 years. He is a graduate of the MacEwan University music program with a Degree majoring in guitar performance. He also received a Music Diploma from MacEwan University majoring in Composition. He studied jazz and contemporary guitar with Juno-nominated guitarist Jim Head, as well as composition with acclaimed contemporary Canadian composer Allan Gilliland. He performs regularly throughout Alberta and has played in opening slots for artists such as Coleman Hell, The Zolas, Scenic Route to Alaska, Busty and the Bass, and The Royal Foundry. He has toured across Western Canada and India. He teaches all skill levels and genres, but specializes in genres like rock, pop, jazz, blues, funk, folk, and R&B.
His rate is $25 per half hour.

Adam has taught guitar through Long and McQuade for seven years, impacting and inspiring many students through his one-to-one teaching, music camp instruction, and adjudication. Adam has played guitar for most of his life, either as a solo performer or in different acts. He is constantly composing and producing for his main project Bloom Filter. He received his Bachelor of music in audio while studying classical guitar at the University of Lethbridge and went on to do his master's degree in computer science (music technology). Adam continues to learn and write as much music as he possibly can and loves to share that enthusiasm and excitement with his students. Adam offers guitar lessons at our Edmonton Highlands location.

Andrew Noakes has been teaching for 6 years in private, group and classroom settings. A Calgary boy who attended Mount Royal University with a Diploma in Jazz Performance, then transferred to the big city of Toronto to complete a Bachelor's degree in Music from Humber College. After living in Toronto for 7 years, having incredible opportunities to perform in the premier venues and teaching in different areas across Toronto and Ontario with many different ensembles, bands and orchestras, he never quite felt like a Torontonian. He decided to move back to his home province, to engage in the Albertan music community. Andrew is a professional trombonist and guitarist, most notably performing with Dipo, Gold Complex, the Lower Ossington Musical Theatre Company, Broken Social Scene and more. As well, Andrew just completed a Bachelor of Education from York University in Toronto - he is hoping to utilize new pedagogical practices in all of his teaching. He specializes in teaching trombone (tenor and bass), and trumpet, along with music theory. Andrew teaches lessons at our Edmonton Highlands location.

Angelina Zhang holds a Master’s Degree of Piano Performance and Bachelor’s Degree of Music Education from China. Angelina has over 20 years experience of playing piano and over 10 years of teaching piano and music to students in China. Since arriving in Edmonton, Angelina has continued to teach piano and music to students from various backgrounds and levels from beginners to advanced. She focuses on cultivating her student’s musical interest by teaching students both expressive and technical skills. She is very patient and also able to instruct piano and theory in both English & Chinese (Mandarin). Angelina teaches piano and theory lessons at our Edmonton Highlands Location.

Erica Van Drunen is a pianist and vocalist with over 20 years of performance experience under her belt as well as over 15 years of teaching music to groups and private students. She was hooked on playing piano and singing for as long as she can remember. In 2004, she left Canada to go overseas and became a music teacher at a boarding school, an experience that inspired her to obtain a music degree. She graduated from Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton in 2006 with a diploma in jazz piano performance and then attended the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in England, where she completed a BA in music with a double major in songwriting and piano performance in 2010—and where she had the privilege of a private songwriting lesson with Sir Paul McCartney.
As a pianist and vocalist, Erica has performed on various artists’ albums and released some of her own under the banner of her long-time band Seven Suns. She teaches in a way that makes music accessible and enjoyable for every student. As a musician and teacher with severe hearing loss, she is adept at meeting students where they’re at and helping them capitalize on their individual strengths to find their own unique creative outlet through music. Her own experiences and challenges navigating the music world have given Erica all the tools needed to help others build musical confidence, create their own masterpieces, and play with passion.
Erica teaches piano at both our Highlands and Mayfield locations.

Isaiah Roemmele is currently finishing his fourth year of his Bachelor of Music performance degree at the University of Alberta. He is involved in the University String Orchestra and has performed as a first and second violinist with the Lethbridge Symphony. In 2014, Isaiah was the Regional Gold Medalist for receiving the highest mark in Alberta on his Grade 6 Royal Conservatory examination. Isaiah plays both piano and violin, but the violin is his passion!

Jennie Emms comes from a musical family in Red Deer, Alberta. She has been playing violin from a very young age, competing in local Kiwanis Music Festivals as well as performing with both the Red Deer Youth and Senior Orchestra, and Burman University Symphony Orchestra. She has had the pleasure of performing in the pit bands of local musical productions such as Beauty and the Beast and Sweeney Todd. Jon Guenter is a freelance musician based in the city of Edmonton. He’s a recent graduate of MacEwan University’s Bachelor of Music program, majoring in Drum Set Performance, where he spent the majority of his studies focusing on improvisation. Throughout his studies, Jon has taken the role of bandleader, and has played in a variety of styles, from rock to pop. While Jon’s focus lies in the genre of jazz, he is well-versed in many different styles, and has a passion for teaching music to students of all ages and abilities.
Jon is a firm believer in examining the aspects of music from a variety of different angles, and believes this process is essential in the development of any musician. Jon has invested his time into understanding not only the theory that surrounds drums, but music theory as a whole. By learning music through mediums like theory, technique, listening, and instrument application, this provides students with the tools to both learn and understand music, allowing them a creative outlet that will translate into other areas of life.
Jon understands each student learns their own way and at different speeds but encourages students to spend a designated set of time each week to work on the materials discussed in class. Jon wants the best for his students and will strive to provide an environment that results in a positive experience for each student.

Shea Iles is a graduate of Grant MacEwan University’s Music Composition degree program, and is currently completing RCM Classical Guitar training at Level 8. He has been playing the drums since age 10, playing guitar and singing since 15, and has learned various other instruments over the years such as ukulele, piano, and bass guitar. Shea enjoys theory, ear training, and technique as much as repertoire, songwriting, and composition, so his students will have a well-rounded approach to music. Shea is open to any genre and style and he is a proponent of trying new things.
