Annie Cheung

Annie Cheung (Piano, Theory, keyboard, Organ)

Annie was classically trained through the ABRSM, Kawai, and Technics programs and got her degree from National Taiwan University. Annie believes in building a relationship with every student and customizing lessons according to his or her personality and musical goals. She is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Her rate is $24 per half hour.

Ed Worst

Ed Worst (Guitar)

Ed has performance experience in a variety of genres including Rhythm and Blues, Hawaiian stage shows, Classical and Jazz. This variety has helped further Ed's insights toward his teaching style for the guitar. He enjoys instructing any age group and has many years of experience behind him. His rate is $24 per half hour.

Geoffrey Chan

Geoffrey Chan (Trumpet, Trombone, Clarinet, Oboe, French Horn)

Geoffrey started learning music in band at high school which lead to him to play multiple instruments. He taught in schools and society groups for many years in Hong Kong. He passed his band sergeant major course at Kellner Hall RMSM in the United Kingdom. After immigrating to BC he played for a number of years with the Navy Reserve and Association band. His rate is $24 per half hour.

Grandy Chu

Grandy Chu (Piano, Cello, Theory)

Grandy has completed the ARCT in Piano Performance and is working towards obtaining the RCM Licentiate in Piano Performance. As a focused musician, Grandy guides intermediate to advanced piano students and beginner to intermediate cello students to achieve their musical goals. Grandy speaks English and Mandarin. Her rate is $24 per half hour.

Jeremy Harrison

Jeremy Harrison (Guitar, Bass)

Jeremy studied classical guitar at McMaster University and plays many genres. Recently he performed on studio recordings with FOX Seeds finalists Rude City Riot and splitTRACT. Jeremy has 10 years of teaching experience and his lesson style focuses on fostering the joy of music performance. He encourages theory, reading, and fret-board knowledge for all. His rate is $24 per half hour.

Jessica McLaughlin

Jessica McLaughlin (Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute)

Jessica is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist specializing in woodwinds. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance from the University of Calgary and has begun work on her Masters. In 2012 she received several gold certificates for the performance of solo works at the Kiwanis Music Festival in Calgary. Jessica has taught private lessons and coached ensembles for 5 years. She also has recently gained experience teaching at the university level. She performs regularly in a variety of ensembles ranging from small chamber groups to big bands, wind ensembles and pit orchestras. Her goal is to inspire students to play and encourage constant learning. Her rate is $24 per half hour.

Jonathan Holisko

Jonathan Holisko (Drums, Percussion)

Jonathan Holisko is a professional drummer and drum teacher who has toured Europe, China, and North America with multiple bands. He studied Jazz music at Capilano University and holds Diploma of Jazz Performance on percussion. Jon plays regularly with singer songwriter Daniel Wesley, reggae cover band Mostly Marley, soul and r&b singer Krystle Dos Santos, and East Vancouver locals The Boom Booms. Jon has studied with a long list of music educators over the years and has a broad range of knowledge in many different styles of music including latin, jazz, afro cuban, funk, rock, metal, reggae, r&b, and world music. Jon also works in tv/film and most recently recorded a song for an upcoming ABC Television show titled, "When We Rise. His rate is $24 per half hour.

Julia Geaman

Julia Geaman (Drums)

Julia's love of percussion started 10 years ago when she was compelled
to teach herself how to play her favourite songs. Not long after she decided to study under prominent teachers in the Lower Mainland and eventually studied with Bob Caldwell from Douglas College. Her experience teaching has given her the flexibility and awareness to not only know what to teach, but presenting it in many different ways to keep things fun and make sure that everything is fully understood. She welcomes all ages and enjoys all genres including Rock, Funk, Metal, Blues, Pop and Reggae. Her rate is $24 per half hour.

Lee Nichols

Lee Nichols (Guitar, Bass, Mandolin, Lap Steel)

Lee is an experienced and well rounded teacher fluent in a wide variety of styles of music. Since receiving his training at the Royal Conservatory, Lee has taught for over ten years, beginning at Music Centre Canada in Calgary, through to Long and McQuade Surrey where on top of teaching individual students, he taught a number of group "rock band" classes. After a long tenure at Surrey, Lee then taught a variety of instruments at Beaches Conservatory and allegro music in Toronto before deciding to move back to the West Coast. Also an accomplished performer, Lee has played with artists varying from country artist Patrick Masse, to Blues band The British Columbians, to pop artists Stef Lang, Shawn Hook, Tyler Shaw and numerous others. He also plays ukulele, lap steel, bass, and mandolin. His rate is $24 per half hour.

Lesley Law

Lesley Law (Piano, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Theory, History, DJ)

Lesley is a musician, producer, songwriter and DJ. She obtained her Associate of the Royal College of Teachers in Piano Performance at age 17. She attended Capilano University on scholarship where she studied classical and jazz piano, classical guitar and jazz bass. She is also a certified Bass Specialist from Berklee College of Music. She is a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships as a pianist and a songwriter. Her students are high achieving in their RCM exams as well as university auditions. She produces and performs with various R&B Hip Hop artists in Vancouver and Los Angeles. She teaches piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, theory, history and DJ. She provides instruction in English, Mandarin, and Chinese. Her rate is $24 per half hour.

Lillian Chan

Lillian Chan (Piano, Theory, Harmony)

Lillian has a degree from UBC, holds a Piano Performance Licentiate Diploma from Trinity College of Music in London, and is qualified to teach the Kelly Kirby Kindergarten Method & TMA Programs of the Center for Music and Young Children, Princeton, New Jersey. She volunteers as coordinator of the Richmond Music Festival Society, accompanies the instrumentalists & adjudicates for music festival. She’s also a member of the BC Registered Music Teachers’ Association Richmond Branch, Canadian Frederation Music Teachers’ Association & Canadian Music Teachers’ Association. She loves music and can help any student achieve their piano goals. She is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Her rate is $26 per half hour.

Maria Goobar

Maria Goobar (Voice, Piano)

Maria began performing at the age of nine. She graduated from the Buenos Aires Conservatory of Music where she also got degrees as Choir and Orchestra Conductor. She has won awards both as a singer and as a choir director. For more than 20 years, she’s enjoyed teaching students of all levels the proper technique to sing pop, rock and classical music. Her rate is $24 per half hour.

Peter Chotem

Peter Chotem (Guitar, Bass)

Peter is a guitarist-composer who studied music in Montreal at McGill and Concordia universities. Since 1999 he has taught many styles of guitar to students of all ages in the Richmond-Vancouver area. Peter performs and records with his brother Tony in the guitar duo Double Helix. They have recently completed tours of Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, and the BC interior. His rate is $24 per half hour.

Raphael Geronimo

Raphael Geronimo (Drums, Percussion)

Raphael has been part of the Vancouver music scene for many years. He studied in Havana, Cuba at the Laboratorio Internaçional de Folklore and in New York City at the Harbour Center of Performing Arts. Raphael directs Rumba Calzada, an explosive Latin jazz ensemble that has performed internationally and been nominated for several awards including a 2002 Juno award and a 2008 Western Canadian Music Award. His rate is $24 per half hour.

Robyn Cameron

Robyn Cameron (Saxophone, Flute, Piano, Theory)

Robyn Cameron holds a Bachelors of Music as well as a Bachelors of Education from UBC and a Diploma from Capilano University in classical flute. She is flexible teaching to the RCM exams or to the student's desires, as long as it get students excited about music. As a music educator in the public school setting, she specializes in band. She teaches flute to all levels and ages and offers beginner piano, saxophone, and theory. Her rate is $24 per half hour.

Sarah Cawston-Stewart

Sarah Cawston-Stewart (Piano, Trumpet)

Sarah has been involved in music for many years, beginning with piano at the age of ten, followed shortly by the trumpet at age of 11. She played in concert band and jazz band throughout high school, and even performed with a Richmond-based ska band for several years. She is classically trained on the piano, having accomplished the Grade 9 RCM exam, as well as the Grade 7 ABRSM exam, with Honours. She is currently an RCM beginner piano pedagogy candidate, which is the first step in completing the ARCT certification. Sarah is a great lover of music, and hopes to instil a sense of fun and devotion to musical studies in her students. She accepts beginner to intermediate students of any age on piano; and beginner students for concert band or jazz band on trumpet. Her rate is $24 per half hour.

Shantha Gunasekera

Shantha Gunasekera (Piano, Theory)

Shantha completed her Graduate studies in Canadian Music at UBC, holds a ATCL UK diploma, a MMus. and a Doctorate in Ethnomusicology from Russia. She is an examiner, adjudicator & instructor for RCM, BCCM, ABRSM and all levels of history & rudiments and recently received the title of “Advanced Specialist for Piano & Theory Designations” from RCM Canada. Shanta enjoys working with children as young as 3years old. Her rate is $26 per half hour.

Yves Wang

Yves Wang (Violin)

Yves holds a BA in Music from the University of Chinese Culture Taipei, and a Master Degree of Music from the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He has over 35 years of experience in teaching, and conducting Symphony Orchestras. He is a passionate and dedicated instructor and can help students pass RCM exams. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, and German. His rate is $24 per half hour.
