Private Lessons

Gravenhurst Lessons Centre offers half hour weekly private lessons for all ages and levels. Our price range varies between 25-29 per half hour lessons and offers a professional and lively environment to the public. We currently are offering in-person. Please call, or email for more information about our teachers and lesson times. We are happy to assist you with learning that instrument you always intended on learning, or for new beginners starting a new musical journey of their own. 

Billing for our lessons uses our Easpay system. We simply require Visa, Mastercard, or banking information. We bill our lessons for the month using this system so that we can reserve a spot for you in our teachers busy weeks.

Violist/Pianist Behn Strople is a Cambrian College and Western University graduate having performed with the Sudbury Symphony, and as the principal for the London Community Orchestra. Behn was the featured violist on Grammy Award winner Matt Alber’s album ‘How High the Moon’, and in the soundtrack of the film ‘Cinemanovels’.

Over the past ten years, Behn has enjoyed coaching private students as well as teaching and conducting string ensemble classes at El Sistema Aeolian in London. Behn also plays viola in the Huntsville String Quartet and as principal cello at Muskoka Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra.

Bonnie is currently the Arts Facilitator, Kindergarten to Grade 12 for the Simcoe County District School Board. She has recently implemented an effective and equitable music program in all elementary schools along with the Music Teachers to inspire music for life for students. She creates and facilitates Professional Development for Teachers and programs lesson plans and units. She has taught AQ courses in partnership with the Royal Conservatory of Music and is a member of their Teaching Advisory Committee, as well as a member of the OMEA, ORFF and Kodaly organizations. Bonnie’s background includes University Music Education and an Ontario Teaching Certificate. She is working on her Certification with the Music Care Organization. Bonnie taught piano and voice lessons for many years and directed Choirs at various schools. Bonnie enjoys composing light classical and instrumental music and has released an album and subsequent singles. Her music can be found on all digital streaming platforms under "Bonnie Milne" her rate is $29 per half hour lesson.

Charles has his honours BA in Music from the University of Windsor and has been teaching for almost 20 years. He is a longtime member of the "Tartan Terrors". A Celtic group that blends the energy of a rock show with humour and stepdance. He has toured all over North America as well as in Europe. As well as having a large amount of recording experience.
Charles plays and teaches all styles. His rate is $28 per half hour lesson.

Dan McCoy studied music at the University of Toronto (Mus.Bac. 2000, M.A. 2003) and later at the Franz Liszt School of Music in Weimar, Germany where he earned a Master’s in harpsichord performance (2010). His writings on music performance have been published in the scholarly journal, Early Music, by Oxford University Press and elsewhere. While in Germany, Dan was the summer organist at the Kaufmannskirche where Martin Luther preached and where Bach’s parents were married. Dan has concertized in Canada, France, England, Germany including at the Bachhaus Museum in Eisenach in Germany and a birthday concert including harpsichord at the Palace in Ohrdruf to celebrate Bach’s 325th. He is the co-founder of the Muskoka Youth Choir, Muskoka Ukulele Society and served for the past decade as President of the Royal Canadian College of Organists (Simcoe-Muskoka). Dan was also a recent Adjudicator at the Kiwanis Music Festival in Orillia, Ontario. For many seasons, Dan was the Associate Conductor and Accompanist of the Barrie’s King Edward Choir. His Rate is $29 per half hour lesson.

Paul (or Pj) has been playing guitar since the age of 13. After moving to Canada from the UK, he further pursued his interest and studied to be a musician at Mohawk College. There, he completed his Diploma in Jazz Guitar and has been studying and teaching for all ages for the last 10 years. He then pursued teaching further and studied to become a teacher with the SCDSB. In 2013, Paul met his wife Olivia and formed Pj & Oli, an acoustic wedding duet in Simcoe County. Paul especially enjoys playing in the styles of Jazz Funk, Rock and Blues. He loves to bring his own sense of humor to his work! After all, doing what you love should be fun. His Rate is $28 per half hour lesson.

Peter Wainwright has been a fulltime performer and private music instructor for over 40 years and has taught and performed on guitar, bass, ukulele, banjo and mandolin. He earned his grade 10 classical guitar certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music in 1982 but teaches all techniques and music genres. He has extensive experience performing as a soloist, in bands and in ensembles of all sizes. Peter taught at numerous music stores, high schools, private schools and has operated his own teaching studio for over 35 years. He has taught well over 50000 individual lessons to students of all ages, abilities, and music styles. Besides the instruments listed Peter also teaches music theory and songwriting. He has and continues to perform regularly at casinos, cruise ships, music festivals, fine dining establishments, private parties, and corporate events. His rate is $29 per half hour lesson.
