Chris Chiasson - Guitar music lessons in Pickering

Chris Chiasson (Guitar)

Chris is a seasoned journeyman player who has been working in a wide variety of musical situations for the past 20 years. His principle instruments are Guitar, Bass, Chapman Stick, and Voice. He has employed these instruments to make music in a number of idioms including Pop, R&B, Jazz, Folk, and some Classical performances. Chris has been teaching for close to a decade and has a solid foundation in Theory from private instruction.

Christopher Anderson-Lundy - Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute music lessons in Pickering

Christopher Anderson-Lundy (Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute)

Chris is a multi-instrumentalist from Whitby focused on woodwinds and piano, and a recent graduate of York University’s Jazz Program. At York he studied under Kelly Jefferson, Sundar Viswanathan, Barry Elmes, Tara Davidson, and others. He performs frequently in and around Toronto in a number of different bands and styles. Chris has appeared on JAZZFM91’s Jazzology program, and was one of 8 students selected for the TD Jazz Musician Intensive program in his final year at York. He is very excited to be teaching at Long & McQuade.

Cindy Martin - Piano, Voice music lessons in Pickering

Cindy Martin (Piano, Voice)

With 20+ years’ experience working with students of all ages, Cindy is an excellent addition to the Pickering staff. A punctual and self-motivated instructor, she studied voice at York University and Piano at the Joy of Music Academy. She served as a vocalist on the Global TV program Big Sky Country, as well as Lead singer with the group Fun With Words. With an advanced theory background with the RCM and a Bachelor of Arts in English from York University, Cindy is able to teach in an engaging, fun, and dynamic way that shows great results with her students.

Darren White (Guitar, Bass)

With 17 years experience as a guitar and music teacher under his belt, Darren has an extensive background in private, one-on-one lessons. His kind, friendly and supportive disposition make learning fun, whether teaching theory, technique, or song study. Having worked in the film industry scoring short films and comedy sketches, Darren has a unique perspective on the different applications of musicianship.

Dickson is an accomplished Toronto based Drummer and graduate student specializing in Drum Kit Performance and Pedagogy. Approaching a decade of performance experience, Dickson has developed a strong technical proficiency and understanding within the realm of performance and musicality. Boasting a strong educational background, Dickson is a York University graduate with a Bachelors of Fine Arts with Honours in Jazz Theory and Performance. He is currently continuing his musical studies, pursuing a Masters in Musicology at York University. Dickson possesses a versatile and thorough understanding a wide variety of genres including Rock, Jazz, Latin, Funk, Pop, Metal etc.

Jamie Robinson - Guitar music lessons in Pickering

Jamie Robinson (Guitar)

Winner of the 2007 North American Rock Guitar Competition (the youngest winner in history), Jamie defended Canada against countries including Russia, Brazil, U.S.A., England, Italy, and more. Jamie received a full scholarship to Musician's Institute (MI) in Hollywood California. While attending MI, Jamie earned a position as a composer for Paramount Pictures' production company, Base Productions, scoring music for such networks as Spike, MTV, G4, Fox Sports and A&E. Jamie has also performed with many artists including Grammy Nominated Melanie Fiona.

Jamil Premji - Strings music lessons in Pickering

Jamil Premji (Strings)

Jamil started his musical career at the age of 3 when his father bought him a small electric organ. Since then, he has studied both the piano and violin, and has his RCM certifications for both instruments. He has a very soft melodious playing style with influences from Bollywood movies, popular bands such as The Beatles and Yanni, as well as classical ghazals and western classical music. He is currently a 1st violinist for the Resa's Pieces String Ensemble and lead keyboardist for a community based band. He has performed in numerous music parties and major media events. In particular, he performed for the eminent Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar at his recent book release party in Toronto and played solos for the Canadian Pakistan Business Council Gala Night.

Jay McIlwain - Drum music lessons in Pickering

Jay McIlwain (Drum)

Jay has been playing and teaching professionally for over 15 years and has been with Long & McQuade for over 9 years. After graduating from the Jazz Performance program at Mohawk College, Jay led a Jazz trio aboard Carnival Cruise Lines for 3 years where he had the opportunity to play with many great musicians, including Ricky Skaggs' Kentucky Thunder Band. After returning to Toronto, Jay played with some of Canada's best such as Kirk MacDonald, Geoff Young, Ted Quinlan, Adrean Farrugia, Mike Murley, and many more. Lessons with Jay will include learning by ear, reading music, analytical listening, developing good feel, and a major focus on limb independence.

Jeffrey Clements - Bassoon, Clarinet, Flute, Piano, Saxophone music lessons in Pickering

Jeffrey Clements (Bassoon, Clarinet, Flute, Piano, Saxophone)

Jeffrey Clements is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and graduate of the University of Toronto, where he majored in Composition. Jeffrey has written extensively for small chamber groups, vocal and instrumental soloists, wind ensembles and orchestras. He has performed many solo bassoon recitals, often showcasing his own compositions, and has performed with ensembles such as the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, The Bermuda Philharmonic, Kindred Spirits Orchestra and the North York Symphony Orchestra. Jeffrey has always been a multi-instrumentalist; besides bassoon, he also has extensive experience playing and teaching flute, saxophone and piano.

Jerome has been teaching music for over 7 years. He has studied at the Royal Conservatory Of Music for Classical Piano, and after high school he was accepted in the Jazz Instrumental program at Humber College, where he gained extensive knowledge in Musical Theory, Composing and Engineering. Jerome has been privileged to work with performers such as Sharon Riley & Faith Chorale, Intercession, Brian Hamilton & Divine Worship, Carvin Winans and more. He was has been the musical director at churches such as Kanisa Fellowship, Harvest Worship Centre, & currently at Kingsway Community Life Centre. Lessons with Jerome will include how to play by ear, read music, and become a musical leader.

Michael has been teaching guitar professionally since 1990. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music and holds a diploma for teaching Guitar with the London College of Music in England. He is a registered teacher with RCM and RGT and is the Canadian representative for the world renowned guitar diploma course RGT “The Registry of Guitar Tutors”. He is well skilled in Classical and Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Vocals, Theory, Harmony, Song Writing and MIDI recording. Michael is an accomplished music composer with numerous album releases. He has achieved radio & television airplay and international sales under the band names “Rapid Tears”, “Adrenalin” and currently “MJM”, the Michael J Miller Band.

Milen Petzelt-Sorace - Strings music lessons in Pickering

Milen Petzelt-Sorace (Strings)

Milen is a Composer, Orchestrator and Songwriter at MASTR Studios. He’s currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Special Honours in Music from York University, where he was the concert master for the MMC Orchestra and received the Sobara Award for outstanding creative achievement in composition. He began taking private composition lessons with U of T alumni David Stone alongside his Violin studies. He has travelled with the TDSB Youth Orchestra around Europe. Milen also held the role of Concert Master for the Community Orchestra at York University. In addition to Violin, Milen is also a Pianist, Vocalist and Lyricist. His music and performances have been featured in a variety of media outlets across Canada, including made-for-television commercials, and short films.

Nicholas Soloist, chorister, composer, and educator Nicholas Martin has worn many hats throughout his career as a classical and contemporary musician. His great ability to adapt to numerous musical styles has allowed him the opportunity to be a part of various ensembles all over Ontario. As a chorister and soloist he has worked with many different ensembles including the Orpheus Choir of Toronto, York University Chamber Choir, Ottawa Bach Choir, Schola Cantorum and Chorus Niagara. Mr. Martin studied composition and music pedagogy at York University during which he spent much of his time learning about classical musical forms as well as other various musical genres including Jazz, R&B, Gospel, Soul, and Rock.

Pam started taking lessons on the specialized scholarship course at the RCM at the age of 4. At the age of 6 she started competing across Ontario. Her love for music expanded to the Violin, where she won the silver medal for Ontario and Quebec 3 years in a row. She also played 2nd French Horn in the RCM orchestra and the York Symphony. Pam has been teaching for 35 years. Pam has also worked for the DDSB, spending time with special needs children.

Pat is an innovative and energetic Music Teacher/Therapist. She has 18 years experience as a Montessori and music teacher who teaches a variety of music methods including Royal Conservatory of Music, Kindermusic, Kodaly, and Music for Young Children. She is a graduate of RCM from the University of Toronto for Piano and Vocals, as well as the St. Nicholas Foundation where she received her Montessori Teaching Diploma. She also has certificates in Music Therapy and has specialized training and experience teaching students with learning disabilities.

Ryan is an energetic and creative drum educator that has spent the last decade perfecting his craft. Having studied with the likes of Aaron Edgar, Stephane Chamberland, etc, Ryan has developed a strong pedagogical identity from his time under the tutelage of world class musicians. As a touring musician and session player, he has gained great insight on what it means to be a professional in a band setting, and has picked up great practice and performance tips along the way. Ryan has a well known online presence, as he runs “ClaxtonDrums.ca” where he posts copious amounts of drum lessons, drum covers, and drum play-throughs, which spans across many genres and showcases his strong understanding of musicality and theory. It’s Ryan’s goal to inspire and motivate his students to want to exceed their potential as a drummer, while having the most fun in the process.

Victoria McWilliams (Piano, Voice)

Working with students of all ages, Victoria is very enthusiastic about performing and teaching different genres of music. Teaching all levels from beginner to RCM Grade 9, preparing for piano exams, voice auditions, and recitals are her forte. She has over 20 years teaching experience, and is musically trained through the Royal Conservatory for both Voice and Piano. As a teacher, Victoria aims to educate positively and tap into the uniqueness of each student.
