A performance artist of many styles, and an accomplished music instructor since 2009, Brandon Sikorsky has been engaging in public, musical expression for nearly 20 years. As a nation-wide touring musician, as well as international recording artist (…and a thoroughly inventive composer), the success of Brandon’s own original music has been featured on MuchMusic, on stage at VANS Warped Tour, the FEEL SUBPAC artist roster and even amidst Jonny Hawkins’ mastered works; frontman of highly-acclaimed rock outfit NOTHING MORE.
The importance of an accommodating, creative space for young individuals to express themselves completely is of utmost priority, and Brandon intends to nurture students, of all ages and skill levels, in their unique pursuit of ability and lasting joy in music. He specializes in pop, rock, and metal genres.

brock nielson (Drums)

Brock Neilson has been playing drums since 2009 and teaching since 2018. He is an experienced teacher, performer and songwriter and has played drums for many different groups including Witherfire, Yeoman and November Down. His expertise on the drums extends to rock, funk, soul, rap, country, worship and many other styles of music. His intent as a teacher is to instill a love of music in students and help them to achieve their goals as musicians.
Brock teaches drum lessons in Saskatoon at both our 8th St. and 43rd St. locations.

Cade has recently joined us in Saskatoon from Regina where he has spent the last three years as an elementary band teacher. He has played and recorded in churches, schools, and community groups over his 24 year career as a trumpet player, with groups such as Lions Band, Wolf Willow, and Poltava Dance and Orchestra Ensemble which he directed last year. He has also been an active part of SBA Summer Camps, SMEA Honour Bands, UofR Honour Groups, and Head Start Clinics as both a student and as an instructor.
Being well versed in the instruments offered by the school band program, Cade will be able to develop and add to your skills on brass and woodwind instruments such as flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba.

corina ursuleac (Piano)

Corina comes from a musical family with her background in music starting through singing at a very young age. She has also been playing since she was very young, progressing through RCH, and continues to work on advanced levels. In addition to teaching, Corina shares her music by playing piano as an accompanist for vocal groups, string groups, playing solo pieces, and volunteering to play at churches. Corina also plays flute and enjoys playing in bands at school and flute quartets at church. Corina began her teaching as a substitute instructor at the 8th St Long and McQuade. She has taught students of various ages and skills, always aiming to provide a positive and comfortable learning experience.

graham tilsley (Guitar, Bass Guitar, Cello, Voice)

Graham Tilsley has been studying, exploring, playing, performing, recording and composing music for over 20 years. He graduated from Grant MacEwan University with two diplomas in Recording and Live Sound Engineering, and Upright Bass Performance. All the while, he was part of the jazz band and jazz choir.
Upon graduating, he has been working as a session musician which has taken him around the world, including all over Canada, the U.S., Europe, the UK, and more with many bands/artists and on a number of different instruments.
With 17 years of teaching experience, Graham knows when to follow a curriculum and when to tailor each lesson to the goals of the student (or parent). He teaches electric and acoustic guitar, upright and electric bass, cello, and voice. Graham's objective is to teach music and develop the musician. He incorporates ear training and theory through conversation rather than through tests with right or wrong answers.
Additionally, Graham is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, recording engineer, live sound engineer, producer, guitar and bass tech.

james kumaran (Drums)

James Kumaran’s musical journey began at a young age, studying classical voice, piano and french horn. After playing drums for a high school musical production, James decided to dedicate himself to the instrument and performed with the Saskatoon Youth Jazz Orchestra for its first two years. He was also a key player in his high school jazz band and musical theatre troupe.
Taking his talents to Edmonton, Kumaran began an undergraduate degree in Jazz and Contemporary music at MacEwan University. While a student, he participated in a wide variety of musical opportunities both in and outside of school. These ranged in genre from fusion to rock, metal to reggae, jazz to pop, and many more.
James has formed and led two bands, Midnight Arrival and Noise Pending. As a studio session player, Kumaran played on several albums including “wondering” by Dane Bjornson, and “Burn out” By Lexene. While in his fourth year of his degree, James played for the MacEwan big band, the universities flagship professional ensemble.
Since being back in Saskatoon, Kumaran has been a guest artist with the Saskatoon Brass Band, the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra, and he recently played drums on a special project for the University of Saskatchewan. It’s easy to find James at local music events, public and private and he is excited to share his love of drums with Long & McQuade students.

jeannette perault (Piano)

Jeannette began studying piano at age 5 and continued until she completed her Grade VIII Royal Conservatory. In her early 20's, she began writing her own songs and performed in many clubs and folk festivals, both as part of a band, and as a solo artist. Jeannette then moved to British Columbia and studied music at Selkirk College in Nelson, BC.
Currently Jeannette plays piano with the Saskatoon Community Jazz Band, and saxophone with the Saskatoon Concert Band. She continues to expand her learning by attending music seminars whenever she has the opportunity.
Jeannette has been teaching all ages of students since the year 2000 and employs an individual approach with each student, including implementing games and activities into the lessons. She is looking forward to sharing her love of music with her students, and believes that music is a universal language bringing all people together in peace and unity.

Since the age of 8, Josh has been fascinated by the piano. Josh has played on several occasions in elementary, junior high school music concerts and church. He is fluent a variety of genres ranging from classical to jazz and pop as well. Josh is a highly determined individual adept in creating an exciting and entertaining learning environment.

Lexi, Cho Yan Lau started playing piano at the age of 6. Throughout high school she participated in the school's symphonic band as a clarinet player. Lexi has completed her Music Degree from Hong Kong Baptist University and has been teaching piano ever since. Besides teaching piano, Lexi also works as a collaborative pianist for musicians who have played a variety of instruments as they perform in concerts and for examinations. Currently, Lexi is studying Early Childhood Education and is working toward her diploma at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
Lexi creates an encouraging and positive learning environment for students to enjoy their music journey.

mina he (Violin)

Mina grew up in a musical family, and learned about music through her grandpa who played yangqin/dulcimer and erhu for more than 50 years. She began playing violin when she was 6 years old, and holds her grade 8 RCM level for violin. She started her musical journey in Saskatoon Strings (SSTR), is currently a member of the Saskatoon Youth Orchestra (SYO), and continues to develop her own musicianship. She has performed countless times as a soloist, in orchestras, and in strings for shows, concerts, and musicals. She enjoys playing violin, and hopes to share what she has learned with others.

oishik khan (Drums)

Oishik is an ambitious musician being driven solely by his love of music. Growing up in a family of musicians, he has been learning music for almost his entire life. Since 2012 he has been accumulating knowledge from a variety of styles such as Rock, Heavy Metal, Funk, Country, Jazz, and has been putting it into his drums. He has diverse experience professionally recording, song writing, and performing in various bands/groups. Some of these bands include Fake Paradise, Kannon Fauder, LockJaw, and the UofS Jazz Ensemble. Oishiks hope as a teacher, is that his love for music can help nurture students and their growth, in a creative and positive learning environment.

ryan regier (Guitar)

Ryan is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter with over a decade of performance experience on guitar and drums. He is a guitarist in the Saskatoon band Retrofuturist, acting as one of the primary songwriters. As a member of the group he has recorded music with Taylor Larson who has worked with artists such as Periphery, Veil of Maya, Jason Richardson, Asking Alexandria and more. His primary focus as a musician includes the genres of pop, rock, and metal. Ryan’s teaching philosophy is to provide his students with the tools needed to confidently express themselves on the instrument and find their unique voice.

shabnam abbasi nargesi (Violin)

Shabnam Abbasi Nargesi, a prominent young Iranian violinist is renowned for her virtuosity, depth of tone, versatility, and creative vision. She was born in Iran and began playing the violin at the age of 9. Shabnam completed her undergraduate and her first master's studies at the University of Art in Tehran, Iran. Currently, she is pursuing a second master's degree at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, where she continue to follow her passion for music and advance her academic journey.
Shabnam has had the privilege of participating in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Anna Gutowska, Damiana Jourana, Alexandros Halapsis, and others. In Iran, Shabnam competed in various competitions and won first prize at the Concert Prize competition for two consecutive years. She had the honor of performing Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole and Ravel's Tzigane with the Tehran Philharmonic Orchestra. Shabnam continues to perform and collaborate across different artistic mediums. Additionally, she is conducting research in diverse fields, including history and music and the relationship between music and health.
