Fiddling & Mandolin Workshops with Gordon Stobbe - Toronto, ON

Fiddling Workshop - Wednesday, June 1 @ 7PM

For violinists beginning their exploration of traditional fiddling, including beginners (who have been playing at least 2 years), and for experienced fiddlers looking to expand their horizons. This playing workshop will explore a variety of fiddling styles and provide inspiration from a master. Play new tunes, develop your fiddling technique, and add harmony to your bag of fiddle tricks.

Experience the joy of playing new tunes with feeling. Teachers and their students are encouraged to attend this workshop to play with Gordon and fiddlers from around Ontario.

Mandolin Workshop - Thursday, June 2 @ 7PM

Play some mandolin – or maybe you have been thinking about it?  In honour of the recent publication of Gordon’s book, Mandolin Chordology, Long & McQuade is happy to give players – and the curious – a chance to play this iconic instrument with a master.

Bring your instrument, or we will have a variety of models of instruments for you to use during the workshop. Gordon is the master at conducting a workshop with people of all levels of experience. Explore chord voicings, rhythms, accompanying styles and melody playing.
