Intro to Home Recording with Dustin Jackson

A look at how to set up a basic home recording suite using an interface and computer DAW. Dustin is a music producer, and live sound engineer. He has recorded a variety of genres and will be using a Pro Tools setup.

DJing 101 with John Skene

An intro look at the three major setups – CDJ, controller and vinyl DJing. John started off spinning records in the after-hours scene, quickly becoming a resident DJ by the name of “DJ Hollywood Hype” at some of the largest clubs in Winnipeg. As Hollywood Hype, John toured with artists such as LMFAO and Far East Movement.

Nick will focus primarily on the stringing and tuning of Djembe drums as well as offer advice on maintaining your drums throughout Winnipeg’s extreme seasons. Nick is a professional percussionist and hand drum repair guru from Winnipeg. He has performed with local acts and has maintained many drums in preparation for Winnipeg’s Annual Folk Fest.
