with Joseph Abourjaili

Join Joseph for a guitar clinic focusing on the proper use of modes, jazz harmony, and phrasing. Regardless of your skill level, the knowledge learned from this jazz guitar clinic will improve your musical vocabulary.

Joseph has been playing guitar for over 20 years and has been teaching for over 15 years. He earned an Associates Degree in Music from Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, and a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance with honours from Humber College in Toronto, Ontario. Joseph has taught music in Seoul, Korea, Hollywood, and Toronto. He has performed as a guitarist with partners of Cirque Du Soleil and other musical theatre acts including British Invasion. He was a guitarist for the televised series, Taiwanese Idol, and his band, Behind Closed Doors.

Learn to use social media to promote and market yourself and your band! In his 30 year career, Steve “Machine” Ricardo has produced, written and released 7 instrumental albums, along with his band's albums, CORNUCOPIA, Death Match Union and Dirty Audio Machine.  He has worked with Bif Naked and Green Jello. In addition, he has contributed to a long list of session work with many artists globally. He has had success writing Instrumental Metal music and even managed to get a JUNO nomination.

Writing Walking Basslines
with Kaitie Sly

 
In this bass clinic, Kaitie will cover the essential elements of walking basslines, including chord tone targeting, rhythm, and improvisation. You'll learn valuable techniques to enhance your playing and create effective, expressive basslines in jazz and other genres. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced bass player, you will gain valuable insights and techniques to enhance your bass playing skills and take your walking basslines to the next level.

Kaitie has worked in the music industry for over 25 years as a composer, musician, and music educator. Kaitie has been teaching for 15+ years and has authored a series of six electric bass method books that have received high acclaim. Her expertise as an educator allowed her to develop the bass curriculum for FenderPlay. Kaitie writes and performs her own original music, and performs in the afro-soul group, Serengeti as well. She works as a session musician for artists such as Blackbird Radio and Rumour Mill, frequently playing gigs across BC, and has toured Canada, the USA and the UK.
