Band Instrument Repair and Maintenance
With Chris Hess

Learn how to maintain and prolong the life of your brass and woodwind instruments without breaking the budget.  This session will focus on identifying issues with instruments, fixes that can be done in the classroom or at home, and quick maintenance ideas that will keep your school or personal instruments stay in good, working condition.  

Chris Hess is a Canadian saxophonist, producer, and vintage instrument specialist whose career spans over three decades. A longtime member of the legendary band KLAATU, he has shared the stage with artists such as R.E.M., Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, Alannah Myles, and 54-40. A JUNO Award nominee with Punjabi By Nature and a 2016 NOW Magazine Indie Producer of the Year nominee, Hess has also recorded and performed music for Nelson Mandela’s 1998 SkyDome appearance.

With Daelin Henschel

Clinic topics include: chord melody playing, right hand fingerpicking patterns, Travis picking, learning repertoire, and arranging for solo guitar.

Daelin Henschel is a graduate of Humber College’s Bachelor of Music program, has studied with established guitarists like Jocelyn Gould, Rob Bulger, and Nathan Hiltz, and is well-versed in a variety of styles, including Folk, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical, and others. He is also an avid performer, having opened for JUNO award winners like Joey Landreth and Ian Tamblyn, and showcasing his original music and arrangements at many venues and events around Ontario.
